It Was One Good Week in the Word

All who attended the pre-crusade revival must agree that it was a good week in the Word. Beginning last Sunday night at the Hillview Church, the pre-crusade revival attracted hundreds of members from the Adventist churches in Nassau. Inspirational singing, fervent prayers, and dynamic preaching characterized the meetings.

Low Voltage  Pastor Leroy Sewell, assistant coordinator of the Sweet Redemptive Crusade, started the series of revival meetings with a provocative presentation entitled, “Low Voltage.” He revealed that sexual sins in the church are preventing the free flow of the power of the Holy Spirit. This results in “low voltage” in the church. In other words, the presence of sexual sins in the church hinders our ability to witness effectively for the Lord. Pastor Sewell challenged the church to eliminate these sins and restore the power of the Holy

Spirit. That way we will be able to invite others to join us in our walk with the Lord.

He Could Not Walk Away  Using Revelation 12:7 &17 as his key texts, Pastor Andrew Burrows declared that “we are in a dog fight” with the forces of evil. And although Satan was defeated in the war which started in heaven, he just will not quit. Just as he tried to take over heaven, he wants to take over our lives. But Jesus, who did not allow Satan to take over heaven, could not walk away and leave us to the mercy of the enemy of our souls. That is why He came to this earth and died to rescue us. Yet Satan continues to use various means to destroy the young people in our society. Many of them are angry and are unable to walk away from conflict. They simply follow the way of Cain and Satan. One day, Jesus will come back to end the war that Satan started.

Jesus’ Method of Evangelism On Tuesday night, Pastor Paul Scavella was used by the Holy Spirit to proclaim that Christ’s method of evangelism is the most effective way of soul winning. Jesus mingled with the people, met their needs, won their confidence and invited them to follow Him. If we follow this method, our success will be assured.

In order to employ Christ’s method of evangelism, we must spend time with Him and be filled with His Spirit. Pastor Scavella explained that “the effectiveness of all that we do depends on the source to which we are connected.” In Acts 2:41-47, the early believers spent time together in prayer, studying the Word and praising God. They were united in their love for God and for one another. They were connected to Jesus through prayer and the Word, and the Holy Spirit was able to work through them. They developed a personal relationship with one another. This kept them together and attracted new converts to their group.

God’s People Delivered  Members assembled at the Berea Church for Wednesday’s segment of the revival meetings. Heavenly music rendered by the Maranatha Singers and the Berea Sanctuary Choir prepared the audience for the power-packed message Pastor Danny Clarke delivered. Beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelation, Pastor Clarke showed how the people of God will be delivered from Satan’s control (The key texts were Genesis 3:14-21 and Revelation 13).

After Adam and Eve sinned, they were ashamed and hid from God. But in His love and mercy, God put them out of the Garden to save them. Then through Jesus, the plan of salvation was realized. So Jesus was God’s way to man, and He was man’s way to God. It is through Jesus alone that man’s broken relationship with God can be restored.

Dr. John Carey

Because of this need for man to be restored, the Sweet Redemptive Crusade was planned. As disciples of Christ, we have the opportunity to invite others to the meetings so that they might hear God’s truth for this time. While the inspiration of the Week in the Word lasts, let us do our best to lead others to Jesus.
