George Leroy Darrell, age 72, the father of Velinda Rolle, and resident of Central Andros, died at the Princes Margaret Hospital on Friday, January 18, 2008 after a long battle with epilepsy.  George and his wife Edith moved from their native home of Bermuda four years ago to live with their daughter Velinda and son-in-law Eddie Rolle, in the quiet and serene Central Andros.  George was an active local elder at the Southampton Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bermuda,  for many years.  He was affectionately called Elder Leroy Derrell by many.   George and his wife Edith, were active members of the Lowe Sounds Seventh-day Adventist Church, North Andros.  They would travel almost fifty miles each Sabbath from their home in Central Andros to worship with the members

 

He was hospitalized at Princess Margaret Hospital for eight weeks before he fell asleep in Jesus.   The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2008, at the South Hampton Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bermuda.  Viewing of the body will be in Nassau on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. at Fealy Demeritte Funeral Home, Mackey Street. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Curtis McMillan Dies

Funeral service for Dr. Curtis McMillan will be on Monday, January 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church, Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, Nassau.  Officiating will be Pastor Hugh Roach.

The Adventist family in The Bahamas is saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Curtis McMillian, 76, the eldest son Sis. Pearl McMillan (age 99) and the late Daniel McMillan.   He died suddenly on Sunday, January 13, 2008. Dr. Curtis McMillan was a semi-retired dentist and president of MedDentCo, parent company of Med Plan and Dent Plan serving The Bahamas. He is the brother to Cyril (building contractor), Daniel, Leslie (former president of the Bahamas Conference), and Wendell McMillan (field secretary of the West Indies Union Conference).

Dr. Curtis McMillan, a former student of Bahamas Academy, was the first Bahamian to graduate from Northern Caribbean University (then West Indies College), and the first Bahamian to become vice principal at Bahamas Academy. He also attended Pacific Union College, California, and earned his dentistry degree at Harvard University. He also served as a member of parliament and Minister of Health for the Government of The Bahamas. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma; three children, Curtis, Jr., Shelly, and Joey; and grandchildren. Rahming and Johnson to Wed in July

Pastor Leonard Rahming and Miss Paulyn Johnson to wed on July 25, 2008

Pastor Leonardo Rahming and Miss Paulyn Johnson were engaged on Saturday night, January 12, 2008.   The couple will be joined in Holy Matrimony on Sunday, July 27, 2008. 

Paulyn is a teacher at Grand Bahama Academy.  Pastor Leonardo Rahming is the district pastor for South Abaco and will be transferring to Nassau (The Bahamas Conference) at the end of January 2008 to serve as a district pastor.
