Conference News For Sabbath, July 5, 2008

WIU NEWS: New Administration Installed in the Cayman Islands Conference The Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists held its Installation Service for new Officers, Directors and Executive Committee Members on Friday June 20, 2008, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Georgetown following its Second Quadrennial Session held June 18 - 20, 2008 at the same venue.

Adventists Making the News in Barbados Online National News Paper  “ALTAR CALL: Adventists embracing the deaf.” For more than a decade the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has been bringing the Gospel to the deaf and hearing impaired in a unique way by creating a church for those who naturally learn the Word of God at a different pace.

  5. Freedom to Care by Jan Paulsen, President of the General Conference "I recently visited the site of John Harvey Kellogg’s Battle Creek Sanitarium1 in Michigan, northern United States. Established in 1866, it has been rebuilt and expanded over the years. At its peak it catered to some 1,200 patients, many of them well-known figures of the time: businessmen, politicians, scientists, entertainers, writers, and thinkers. They came to experience the revolutionary new health practices set out by Ellen White."

  1. Some Highlights of Mid-year Convention 2008  Every one who attended the Mid-year Convention or anyone who watched any of the presentations on TV must agree that it was an uplifting experience. To inform the members who were not present at any of the meetings or who did not listen to the broadcasts, and to refresh the minds of the persons who attended, I present some highlights of the Convention.

  2. Every Adventist To Join Fun/Walk On Sunday. Every Sabbath Keeping is asked to participate in this special event. The 35th Independence Anniversary Celebrations Committee is sponsoring a Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, July 6, 2008 starting at 6:00 a.m. at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre. Wake up early and let's celebrate together.

  3. Towards a Souls Culture  As we reflect on what took place during Mid-year Convention, it must be remembered that all the programs in which we are engaged are for one main purpose -soul winning. We are happy to report that at the end of the Divine Service on Sabbath, ten precious souls were baptized. This gives us a total of 590 - just 10 short of half of our goal of 1200 for 2008. To God is the glory!

  4. Youth Announcements. Check out Softball & Basketball or lots of other fun activities A special meeting for all attending camporee at Hillview on Monday 7, July at 7:00 p.m.  Conference Sports Day August Monday at Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre. Bahamas Conference Youth Choir practice continues today at 4:30 at the New Providence Church . All young persons who are interested in being in the Conference Youth Choir are asked to attend.
