Week of Prayer
Great Plains Academy
March 3-7, 2008

Together we had fun, laughed, learned
and got closer to Jesus.
The captions below are understood by all of the students.  We all learned to laugh at ourselves and developed a new respect for each other

Coach West and Principal Bralley
The principal wore a hat to each meeting to demonstrate that a
Commitment must be backed by a decision and dedication
He received the hat as a gift from Coach West

Picture434.jpg
Coach Jeff, Coach West, Principal Bralley, Dean Enochs and P.T.
Looks more like the "Chow Line" than a "Chorus Line"
Ha - Love ya, guys !!

The first day of chapel we talked about:
BEING READY
Setting your feet.  Then we showed the students what the pieces of an arrow
look like in a bag.  We told them to be an arrow that was ready to shoot and not just be an "arrow in a bag"

Picture059.jpg
Students learn the importance of setting their feet

Matthew 19:26
Through Christ ALL things are possible

The second day we talked about:
HIDDEN TALENTS
We told the students that just like this balloon, they too, have something special inside

Picture105.jpg
Mark West demonstrates "hidden talents"
by using a balloon inside of a balloon

Phillipians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Day 1 and 2 Heros

Picture108.jpg
Day 2 Hero Anita (L) and Day 1 Hero Raoul (R)

The third day we talked about:
KEEPING SCORE
We demonstrated that the nails that held up the target face
and the nails that held up the score card were taken by Jesus
when he was hung on the cross
We then, no longer, need to worry about the score.
Coach West then shot 4 arrows in the shape of a cross
and put up red crape paper

Picture245.jpg

1 Corinthians 10:31
...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God

Day 3 Hero
Picture240.jpg
Alicia receives her shirt for being a hero

The fourth day we talked about:
THE PRIZE
We told the students that the journey and the person you become
is the real prize.  The medal is in the preparation and not just the destination

Picture299.jpg
Going through a human obsticle course
Phil jumps over Jonathan while Matt watches

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Every day each student was able to participate
in a one and a half hour archery class, learning the basics
and ultimately being able to shoot and pop a balloon

By Thursday the weather warmed up enough to take all the archers outside
They each had the opportunity to shoot arrows up in the air as well as
shooting multiple arrows at a time
