Technique

We will have pictures and descriptions posted here.

The old style of shooting
Pre Shot Set Up
65.jpg 63.jpg
Before making your draw make sure everything is set.
Bow hand, string hand, bow arm.  Here is where you start your aiming process.

The Center Draw
52.jpg 53.jpg
Ideally the index finger of the string hand should set underneath and touching
the jawline.  The thumb and small finger should be relaxed yet out of the way

57.jpg 01.JPG
The string should be in the middle of the chin and the middle of the nose

Draw Expansion
59.jpg
68.jpg
Shoulders and bow arm should be fully expanded and pressed toward the target.  This eliminates recoil movement upon release
60.jpg
66.jpg
There should be a straight line from the back elbow
right through the arrow to the back of the bow

Bow Hand
09.JPG 61.jpg
The bow hand should be relaxed.  Dont put a "death" grip on your bow.

Back Release
41.jpg 38.jpg
The shoulder blades should compress together in the back.  This pulls the draw arm back and in line with the arrow.

Follow Through
29.JPG
The release hand should go directly away and opposite the direction of the arrow.  The shooting form should remain in tact allowing the bow to move in its natural motion.

Continue aiming all the way through the shot

If you look closely, you will see that the arrow has just cleared the bow and the archer has everything locked in place

Side Draw
CopyofDSCN3008.JPG CopyofGALouisHenryDavisandBillyWest.jpg
The index finger of the draw hand should be at or near the corner of your mouth.  This puts the back end of the arrow directly below your eye for aiming.

Listen to your coach
