The Caribbean Association of Adventists in Alberta (CAAA) is a non-profit organization which provides the opportunity for Adventists and non-Adventists of Caribbean background to get together to encourage appreciation for the Caribbean culture, to socialize, and to be entertained within the standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Membership in the CAAA is open to anyone with interest in the Caribbean and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The CAAA has sponsored an annual family retreat at the Foothills Seventh-day Adventist Camp since 1978. At these retreats emphasis is placed on promoting a higher level of spirituality and on developing, fostering, and promoting community spirit and good citizenship. CAAA News & Events The 28th annual retreat will be held, this August 31 - September 3 at the Foothills Adventist campground in Bowden, Alberta. The theme for the weekend will be "Keep it Burning". Special Announcement! The CAAA believes in people and we celebrate people and their accomplishments. Each year, we will recognize different individuals in various categories. We encourage each CAAA member to nominate individuals in the following categories: Student of the Year: Recognition of any student, 13-25 years of age, for his or her exceptional academic accomplishment(s). Young Adult of the Year: Recognition of any young adult of 18-35 years of age, who has been exceptional in his or her community and/or church and also commits his or her time to soul winning. Pastor of the Year: Recognition of the Pastor who has made an exceptional impact on his or her church, community or the CAAA organization. Leader of the Year: Church leader who has made a special accomplishment in his or her role. This person has excelled by working with and developing team spirit. Teacher of the Year: Educator who has made a special impact on his or her students and/or co-workers. This person can be nominated by a student, fellow educator or someone who has had the opportunity to observe the candidate in action. NOTE: You must be an official member of the CAAA to nominate an individual or to be nominated. All nominations must be submitted, no later than May 30, 2007, to: Caribbean.association@hotmail.com. Awards will be presented at the 2007 retreat.
