There Is Hope
By Peggy Harris, August 25, 1987 "Verses of Hope"
What can stir this valley of dry bones? (Ezekiel 34)
Bleached, burned out, lifeless--
They just lie there doing nothing.
Too tired out with the pressures of life to move,
Too weary of carrying around the burdens of life,
Too exhausted with the continual
demands
On
time, energy, and faith.
They have come to a HALT.
Hurt or Hungry,
Angry or Anxious,
Lost
or Lonely,
Troubled
or Tired.
Then there are the helpless, hapless Lukewarms. (Revelation 3)
They are about to be spat out--
Because they are so distasteful.
They thought they were doing righteously.
They seemed rich, beautiful and in need of nothing.
They look in the mirror and do not
see
Their
wretched, pitiful, naked selves.
But now there is H.O.P.E.!
There is life!
These bones can hear!
These
Lukewarms can be tasteful!
Hear the word of the Lord--
Open the door of your heart and mind.
Present yourselves before the mercy
seat.
Being
equipped to serve is promised
Through
the Word.
