Homecoming
By Peggy Harris

A prodigal daughter came home today
But the past cannot be forgotten.
Now there are strong memories
Of both good and bad, positive and negative.

Today is the time for new beginnings.
A new start to building positive relationships
with parents, friends, and most importantly,
        GOD.

God is everywhere, sees, and hears everything.
Parents who pray for their lost children.
Children who pray for hope, courage and a way out.
God, who sees and hears, is just waiting to help.

A door opens, help arrives in the guise of a friend.
Led through the tears
        of doubt and pain
        of beginning again,
        by a helping hand,
by a ride to the airport,
        by a brief prayer,
and a youth is on her way home!

Coming home!
Remembering when life was simple, happy and carefree.
Longing for that innocent time,
When life was uncomplicated,
When there was comfort and safety at home.

Coming home!
To begin again.
To renew relationships with mom and dad.
To learn skills to prevent future abuses.

Coming home!
Time now for skilled help,
Making decisions responsibly,
Learning that God does really care.

Even like this prodigal daughter
We soon will be coming home!
For God is there waiting, to welcome us home with love.
Come home, dear child, come home NOW!
All of heaven awaits you!
