Father's Day
By Peggy Harris

Father’s come in all sizes, shades and abilities.
But a father’s heart is open to
The cries of their infant,
The hurts of their children,
The joys and disasters of their growing up youth.

We praise God for godly fathers
Who by example show
The love of the Heavenly Father,
The patient forbearance,
And the ability to guide small footsteps.

Fatherhood is a lifetime job.
Knowing when to speak up
And to keep quiet
Are skills that sometimes take time to learn.
We understand: fathers are human!

Thanks be to fathers in our families,
Including our church family,
To encourage,
To teach,
And to set examples of loving-kindness.

We count you worthy to be in this class of fathers.
Thanks for all you do.
May you be blessed as you give of yourself
To those who need a father’s care.
Praise to our heavenly Father who made fathers!
