As The Deer
The doe stood alone in the woods
Frightened by those who had been hunting her.
They had tried by every possible means to kill her.
Now here she was with no more places to run.
No more breath left in her.
Helpless and terrified she panted
Trying to catch her breath.
The woman stood alone in
the community.
She had been preyed on by too many.
Others joined in to jeer and discount her.
Now feeling like a zero
Lower than a doormat
After being trod on
Losing everything that had made life worthwhile,
She had no place to go.
Some who professed
Christianity
Were willing to give her some food or clothing
Saying that was all they needed to do
And she should just look to God for help.
White sepulchers they were as they denounced her.
Left alone to suffer,
Barely surviving with no place to hide
She finally felt life was not worth the struggle.
Recovering from these
years of struggle
Is a long endeavor,
Exhausted,
Searching for strength and help,
She fell to the ground.
Then comes the Day,
The Light,
The Help,
From the source of all life.
Now as the phoenix reborn
She stands to her feet
A survivor,
A victory over
Certain destruction.
Now she looks forward
To a new life.
Finding a new purpose she inspires others
Who have met with a similar disaster.
It’s not an easy road but she has determination
And resolve.
She lifts her face to the
Son of Redemption
And gives thanks.
She trusts God to bring down the justice
On the ungodly, cruel beings who tortured her.
She is now not alone!
She bears witness to the powerful restoration
Of the Creator who makes all things beautiful.
She is a triumphant
SURVIVOR!
