Rose Colored Glasses by Karen Fettig Have you ever been so in love with someone that you were oblivious to their faults? All you see is their wonderful side? Years ago there was a song by Jon Conley titled "Rose Colored Glasses" The one line I can remember is “These rose colored glasses that I'm looking through, show only the beauty, they hide all the truth!" Did you know that there is someone so in love with you that He has indeed put on rose colored glasses to view you through? That “someone” knew you before you were even born; before you drew your first breath! He designed you and you are beautiful to Him! (Psalm 139) Father God and Jesus said they created you special! Each one of us is unique, with our very own individual DNA. The lifeblood of God is coursing through our veins; our genetics go back to God! God is continually trying to reach our hearts to show us His goodness! When we give Him our hearts there is so much excitement that all of heaven rejoices! Imagine your guardian angel doing cartwheels and back flips all the way to God’s throne and excitedly saying to Jesus “He did it! He gave his/her heart to you today!” When we truly give of our hearts to Jesus we in essence say; “we want to behold Him, we want to be like Him in all things.” We long to have a closer relationship with Him. The things of this world begin to lose its appeal. We start to find changes taking place in our hearts. The bar-scene which may have drew us before like a magnet has no more appeal. What shames our Lord, shames us; what breaks the heart of God, breaks our hearts too. We start looking at all people as valuable. No longer is the bag lady just a "bag lady", she is a daughter of God made in His image. The guy we pass by, laying in the gutter in a drunken stupor is a son of the Most High God. Our tempers that once erupted more than "Old Faithful" start to ebb. Though we seem to go forward two steps and sometimes slide back ten, we're still making progress. The word of God becomes to us a precious road map of life. We begin to thirst for God; just as the doe in the dry scorching heat of summer, thirsts for a spring of water, so she can impart life to her baby fawns. His words are life to us, the Living Water and we study for truth. We may even lose friends because we are so "wacko;” a “Jesus Freak!” But greater is "He that is in us", than he that is in the world. So we forge on, running the race with perseverance, knowing there is a sure prize when we have completed the race. Everyone who runs and finishes gets the prize, there are no losers.... unless one chooses to drop out of the race. God looks at us through those rose colored glasses stained with the blood of His own precious Son; our Jesus. He sees in us what we are to become. He sees only the beauty, for the glasses hide the truth of our past. He looks at us and he sees the Jesus in us. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father. Every good thing we do is the Jesus shining out in us. Our Father is asking you today: “Come to me my precious child; I will throw your faults into the bottom of the sea!” (Micah 7:19). I have formed you; I knew all about you before you were even born! I will never forget you; I have blotted out like a thick cloud your transgressions and when I look through my rose colored glasses…. I see only the beauty in you! (Isaiah 44:22)
