C.E.A.S.E. stands for Clergy and Educators Abuse Survivors Empowered. (www.advocateweb.org/cease) A W.A.S.H. Board member for this particular category of abuse has developed this site. There are articles and materials to help survivors in their healing process as well as to educate generally about this kind of abuse. Survivors N Thrivers is a new forum (www.survivors-n-thrivers.com) for survivors and family members of abuse victims. This special forum has been set up in preparation for Abuse Awareness Sabbath, August 24, 2002. Check them out and get acquainted with the different rooms of conversation on S-N-T. All are designed to help and provide resources for victims of abuse. Tell your friends about S-N-T. This web site is non-denominational. There are Adventists, former Adventists and others who participate in discussions. There are people who have no safe church to attend. S-N-T becomes family, church and community for many. W.A.S.H. (Women and Men Against Sexual Harassment and Other Abuses) at www.tagnet.org/wash is another resource whose mission is: 1. To cultivate healing environments in the family, church and church-related workplaces to restore both victims and perpetrators of sexual, spiritual, physical and emotional abuse; 2. To safeguard our children from being subjected to abuse in home, school, church and youth activities and 3. To educated church members and leaders to help stop harassment and abuse. This web site contains articles, stories, and many other resources to help in the prevention and healing of abuse. Women's Ministries for the General Conference has materials available for this special Sabbath at their web site: www.wm.gc.adventist.org for a whole church service. There are areas of America where incest is rampant in general and even among church people. It's become a very common thing in some places. There are massive problems of abuse within states, conferences and churches. Please spread the word that there is a place of hope in C.E.A.S.E., S-N-T, and W.A.S.H. Have you written an article about abuse? Share it with S-N-T or W.A.S.H. Do you have a family member who has suffered abuse, whether it is sexual, spiritual, physical, or emotional? Tell them about these resources. If your church has a web site, please add these resources to the list of links. Every church has some problem with abuse. Let's not hide it but deal honestly with it and provide resources to restore and help people live life fully. Peggy Harris, W.A.S.H. Board Chair
