February 2, 2008 - Worship Service

Mrs. Ivey introduced the Adult Sabbath School Vicki Kritzell from Hearth to Hearth Ministries gave us an update on the status of the orphanages in Kenya supported by two of our Adult SS classes.
Vicki spent time at two of the adult Sabbath School classes answering questions about the orphanages. The political situation in Kenya since the December 27 election has caused large increases in the cost of food and fuel for the ministry in Kenya and Uganda. It has also created significant safety issues for the children, staff, and refugees who are now housed in the orphanage compounds. Your prayers and financial support are both welcome. If you have any questions or want to support this ministry, contact Kerry Kelly.

Sermon Notes:

Who is Your Navigator?

Jacob used Daniel as an example of a person in the Bible who had confidence in God's leading in his life. We can all make a difference in this world if we rely on the Lord to lead us and empower us to do His will. We have to look to Him instead of ourselves for wisdom and strength. As we obey the Lord, we find that our desire and power to obey Him is strengthened. The benefits of obedience is clear.

To follow God, we need to know Him, and we learn about Him and His will for our lives by studying Scripture. We can ask for the Holy Spirit to lead us and give us power over fear. If we recall examples of where God has demonstrated His faithfulness in our lives in the past, it will give us confidence in His faithfulness in the present and future.

John 15:12, 13 - My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Philippians 2: 3 - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
