| Paul
presented the sermon, "The Prodigal Connection"
Scripture: Psalms 51:10-12
The story of the Prodigal Son is found in
Luke 15 in the context of other parables Jesus told about the value of each
person to our Lord. Jesus is speaking to two groups of people: 1. tax
collectors and sinners, and 2. Pharisees and teachers of the law. Through
these parables, Jesus was trying to convey the value God places on each
person, and how He celebrates when someone chooses to accept Him and His
sacrifice for them.
To accept Him, we must allow Him to enter our
lives and take control. Like the parable of the vine, we must be "plugged
into" the power of God. We must have a life-producing relationship with Him.
Like an electric drill, it only becomes useful when it is plugged in. Our
roll in this is to allow the Lord to plug us into a relationship with
Himself. Our role is one of accepting and allowing Him to change our hearts
and minds to become more like Him in every aspect of our lives. |
