Community Service - Clothing Distribution

Each week our Community Service group receives bags of clothing from local merchants and clothing re-sellers.  These clothing items are inspected, folded and sorted into several categories:

• clothes that will be put into our stock for distribution locally
• clothes that will be sent to other local agencies for local distribution
• clothes that will be sent to foreign missions mostly in developing countries
• those that are not in good condition will be discarded.

Two times a year, our Community Service organization holds a big Clothing Give-Away event at our church.  In the spring, summer clothes for all ages are available through our Summer Cool-Down Give-Away.  In the fall, winter clothes for adults and a wide array of children's clothes for back-to-school are made available through our Winter Warm-up & Back-to-School Give-Away.  This fall, we served 229 individuals and gave away 2246 items of clothing to residents of the Traverse City area. The pictures below show some of the inventory and activity at this year's Winter Warm-up which was held August 14 & 15.
