19.  What does a Christian believe?  Do I really believe that?

Someone asks, "What is a Christian?"  You answer, "A Christian is a believer!"  They reply, Okay, what do Christians believe?"  You answer "A Christian believes what Christ says."  Well than," he asks, "What does Christ say?'  You stop and think and say, "Christ says that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever BELIEVES, should not perish but have eternal life." and He commanded, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always"   He also said "do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak."  That person stops, turns and looks at you and says, "If that is what Christians really believe I do not know if I have ever met one.  Nobody has ever tried to teach me anything about Christ."  John 3:16; Matthew 28:19, 20; Matthew 10:19.

You are only going to live on Planet Earth a few more years at best. Why not make those years productive? Why not obey Jesus and share the good news of salvation through Jesus who claims "I am the way, the truth, and the life"? Why not look forward to seeing thousands saved at last with Him in His beautiful home in heaven and on Planet Earth after He recreates it into a beautiful paradise? Jesus says to ordinary people like you and me and Peter, and John, and James and Andrew "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always" Matthew 5:5; Revelation 21, 22; Matthew 28:19, 20.

Claim God's promise. Pray something like this, "Dear Father you have promised "Ask and it shall be given you." "You have told me your word is a seed that you have given me to plant in the hearts of your children everywhere. I am doing as you commanded. You said "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always"   You said "do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak."  You said that You "so loved" me that You gave your "only Son that" if I "BELIEVE," I will "not perish but have eternal life." Father help me to be a real believer today.  Help me believe that today I am Your missionary, unrecognized by the world and even by the church but recognized by God above and the angels of heaven.  You have told me to "go, make disciples, and teach.  I am not a professional but I am your missionary.  I can not do everything but I can follow your simple plan.  I can sell or give away one or more Great Controversy books today.  Send me wherever you want me to go.  Show me the person or persons you have for me see today at the gas station, or in the post office, or where I work, or in the grocery store, or in the parking lot, or in a restaurant, or in a hair salon or where ever You send me today.  Help me carry a Great Controversy book or books with me everywhere I go, keeping in mind that You have someone somewhere who is wistfully looking to heaven with "prayers and tears" on the verge of Your kingdom.  Grant that I might find that someone today.  In Jesus name, Amen."   Matthew 28:19, 20; Matthew 10:19. Matthew 7:7; Luke 8:11; John 3:16.
