Texarkana Adventist
School 8th Grade Graduation
Class motto: “On to Victory”
After the
welcome by teacher Birdie Durichek, Gage Lenaway opened the ceremony with prayer. Eight grade graduate, Ashley Bolton gave her thanks to her
family and presented each with a pink rose. Ashely chose the pink roses along with her class colors of black, lime green, and pink. Ashley
followed this presentation with her eighth grade president's speech.
Rhonda Tyson presented the special music and sang Ashley’s chosen song, “My Savior, My God”.
Nathaniel Liston read the text from Psalm 40:8-”I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.”
Pastor Reggie Phillips had the honor of introducing his wife, Betty Phillips, as the commencement speaker. Mrs. Phillips shared several
humorous and very touching incidents from Ashley’s life as a “toddler”.
Mrs. Durichek then presented several student recognitions and Lorretta Johnson, school board chairperson presented read a letter to Ashley from
Mike Dale, Principal of Ozark Adventist Academy. Ashley also received a $500 scholarship from Ozark Adventist Academy.
Mrs. Johnson also presented Ashley with the Jared Little Award. This award originated a few years ago because of the high standards displayed
by student Jared Little. Each year the teacher chooses a student who has displayed those characteristics which include academic performance and
willingness to help others. The student receiving this award displays those high expectations of good character and a Christian behavior that
reveals their appreciation of their church, school, and Jesus Christ as Savior.
The Texarkana Seventh –day Adventist Church congratulates Ashley Bolten for her achievements. We expect great things of her future.
