To Your Health

1 Corinthians 6:19-20:What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

What can we learn from the Bible regarding health? We read in Daniel 1:8 "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, not with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself."

With what food did he ask to be provided? Daniel 1:12 provides the answer. "Please test your servants for ten days, and let them five us vegetables to eat and water to drink."

If you would like to learn more about what the Bible teaches regarding diet and a Christians responsibility regarding what to eat please contact us.

Here is a suggestion for all whose work is sedentary or chiefly mental; let those who have sufficient moral courage and self-control try it: At each meal take only two or three kinds of simple food, and eat no more than is required to satisfy hunger. Take active exercise every day, and see if you do not receive benefit.

Fatigue

  • makes one slower
  • less efficient
  • prone to making mistakes
  • prone to overrate our efficiency
  • slows our ability to learn
  • makes it more difficult to remember
  • reduces awareness of our surroundings

Suggestions to reduce Fatigue

  • 8 - 9 hours of sleep per night
  • Get up the same time each day
  • If sleep is missed one night go to bed earlier the next night (do not sleep in as this causes our circadian rhythm to be disrupted)
  • Exercise
  • Drink 6 - 8 glasses of water per day (dehydration causes loss of cognitive ability)
  • Only put in one day that which one day can hold (try pouring 12 oz of water in an 8 oz glass. What happens? It does not fit and it makes a mess)
  • See you doctor if you suspect you might have a sleep disorder.
  • Rest one day per week.
