Why a spiritual quest?

In the years followng World War II, humankind, especially in the Western world, became enamored with science and its ability to manipulate the physical world. The 1940s had been a time of great strife, but also of great triumph from a technical perspective. Penicillin and other antibiotics promised that disease, which had always been in the realm of the gods, would soon be vanquished by technology. The secrets of the atom had been descried, and nuclear reactors promised unlimited power.

I grew up feasting on the Weekly Reader, a paper that we got at our grade school. It had articles about science and technology, and promised us that we would soon live in a world where cars would run for years on a few ounces of nuclear fuel, disease would be eradicated, and travel to other planets would be almost as common as a trip to Disneyland.

Of course technology hasn't delivered all it promised. And in the 1960s young people started looking for something beyond the physical realm once again. Their quest has grown through the years, and today most Westerners seem willing to admit that they need to be in touch with their own spirits, and perhaps with other spirits as well.

This page is dedicated to fostering that quest. Here you can learn about my own journey, told in story form. In fact, much of what you find here will be stories. I hope you enjoy your visit. Come back often, because I add new material regularly. And if you'd like to contribute a story of your own, send it my way, and I'll be glad to consider it for inclusion.
