| The Family Intimacy Centre was opened on April 10, 2000 on 38
Mount Hill Road, Pembroke, Bermuda.
We focus on providing relationship education through counselling, workshops, group sessions, mediation and networking with other like agencies. It is our goal to have a positive effect on the individual, their homes, jobs, churches and the community at large. Our small beginnings included counseling and empowerment workshops. Throughout this first year, we have grown to include several Marriage Enrichment Workshops held at Newstead Hotel, mediation for families and businesses, and professional development workshops for schools, supervisors, counselors, and even fire service personnel. Development and expansion must always be an integral part of any establishment. Thus, we will continue to advance, setting goals that will enable us to reach our highest potential. During our last quarter, other like agencies, as well as several government agencies, have requested our services and made referrals. It is our endeavor to work more closely with them, expanding The Family Intimacy Centre, assisting individuals and families to heal and grow. It is also our desire to provide more services to the various Christian affiliations of Bermuda. In addition, it is imperative for professionals to continue to develop their skills and to improve their own life journey. Therefore, it is also our goal to continuously seek professional and personal development. This will enable us to provide more efficient service to our community. We deem it a privilege to support others on their pathway of life. No man is an island. Therefore, each one needs someone else. We pledge to utilize impeccable ethics, merged with skills, caring, and concern that will propel those we serve to pursue their own path of healing, growth, and self-awareness. Remember that life is a journey, not a destination. We encourage you to bloom where you are planted along your journey. WE CARE BECAUSE YOU ARE SPECIAL!

He has taught High School, served as the Head Elder and provided church leadership for many years. Presently, he continues to preach, expound, and encourage inmates at the Westgate Prison. He is a Pastor by profession and a Carpenter by trade. Being quite knowledgeable in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, and masonry, he owns and operates a Carpentry and General Maintenance Business. Saadia Bean received an Associate Teachers Degree from West Indies College. She attended Alabama A. &. M. University and attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education Degree. She has also attended Andrews University where she received a Certification in Family Life. For 14 years, Mrs. Bean was an Elementary School Teacher. Following this, she was the Community Educator at the Womens Resource Centre, the Group Facilitator for P.A.R.E.N.T.S., and the Director and Counselor at the Institute for Child and Family Health. Together, Mr. & Mrs. Bean have pursued studies in Family Issues. They have studied Mediation, Geneogram Skills, Critical Incidence Stress Management, Abuse, and Marriage Healing and Enrichment. Since 1987, they have worked as a husband-wife team providing marital and premarital counselling, facilitating family workshops and groups, and enhancing others through leadership training. They have also served as Family Life Directors for their church for several years. Their love for God and each other continue to inspire them to share skills and principles that empower and enrich others. This passion has inspired them to open The Family Intimacy Centre. They consider it a privilege to assist others in experiencing abundant life now, realizing that broken relationships hinder one’s productivity in every area of his or her life, and successful intimate relationships positively impact one’s life, both results affecting our society on a whole. It is with great humility and a sense of achievement that this milestone of the 1st Anniversary of The Family Intimacy Centre is celebrated today. They will continue to forge ahead instilling intimacy principles in others, facing the challenges that are ahead with dedication, commitment, service, and love for God and mankind. Saadia and Detroy Bean are shown in the banner at the top of this page.
