For March we decided to produce a program with a focus on Black History
and in particular the contributions, lives and experiences of the black
population of Bermuda. Starting with the arrival of the first person of
color, Venturilla, and moving on to today, we believe that we have created
a very interesting program. A theme that was soon revealed was that spiritual
connections with God and a hold on to education were truly- the way up
and the way out for many. We had so much information that we decided to
make this a two part programme with part two airing in April.
This program features:
A special message and prayer by Pastor Donnieval Walker
An interview with well-known Bermudian educators: Ms. Ruth Thomas,
Mr. Dale Butler MP, and Dr. Eva Hodgson.
The healthwise segment features an interview of Dr. Espinnet by
our own Dr. Leonard Gibbons.
An interview with Mrs. Patrice Smith about the African Expo weekend
of events planned for April 4-6.
Special music by: the Warrenaires
Special thanks to the Frog & Onion Restaurant
Sonesta Beach Hotel
Fairmount Southampton Princess
and to our own Wayne Watson
for ably playing the part of Venturillo
