The aim of the Health and Temperance department is to
promote a healthy lifestyle among our members, physically, socially,
mentally and spiritually.
Eating a balanced diet that emphasizes whole grains along
with plenty of vegetables and fruits will promote good health and
may help lower the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and
some cancers. Besides this, whole grains are inexpensive and
delicious.

Super
Detox Foods:
Detoxification
– a super cleaning for the human body. It helps to rid the body of
toxins and waste products that build up over time
Onions
& Garlic
– both renowned for their detoxification properties & great
for boosting the immune system.
Brown
Rice
– much tastier than the white variety & a great aid to your
liver because it collects toxins as it moves through your gut &
it flushes them out. Short grain rice is best as it is the most
absorbent
Linseeds/Flaxseeds
– Can either be ground
up & eaten for their fatty acids, which are regarded as very
beneficent to liver function or eaten as they are so that they
provide a soft bulk in the intestines, designed to relief
constipation
Peppermint
Tea –
Ideal for aiding digestion
Water
- Most important for detoxification because we lose about a third of
a litre of water a day simply in the act of breathing, and the rest
through sweating and excretion

Living Well:
Life is a gift of God. Our bodies have been given us to use
in God's service, and he desires that we shall care for and
appreciate them. By neglecting to take physical exercise, by
overworking mind or body, we unbalance the Nervous System.
