What happend when a man die? Is the soul immortal? Where are the dead?
1. God created the first human being named Adam from dust and breath, then the human became living soul
Genesis 2:7
And
the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Psalms 104:29,30
Thou
hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and
return to their dust.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of
the earth.
2. When someone die, the dust becomes dust again, and the breath returns to God. The soul cease to exist.
Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Job 34:14,15
If He
set His heart upon man, if He gather unto himself His spirit and His breath;
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
Ecclesiast 3:20
All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Psalms 146:4
His
breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts
perish.
3. The dead dont know anything. They will not take part in the next events anymore.
Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work,
nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
4. The dead ones dont come back to their home anymore. They are in their graves in the earth.
Job 7:10
He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.
Job 10:21,22
Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the
shadow of death;
A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any
order, and where the light is as darkness.
5. The Bible calls the death 'a sleep'. It will last till the resurrection.
Job 14:10-12
But
man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not
awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
6. The dead ones are all in the earth. They are not on any heaven or hell.
Daniel 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
John 5:28,29
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the
graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Isiah
26:19
Thy
dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and
sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth
shall cast out the dead.
7. The dead ones do not praise God
Psalms 115:17
The
dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
8. The dead ones will not become alive again till the second coming. They will not be be resurrected before that.
1 Thesalonians 4:15,16
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them
which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise
first.
9. Only God is immortal. The bible never says the soul is immortal. The soul
could be destroyed and die in the second death.
Mathew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body
in hell.
Ezekiel 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so
also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
10. We will be judged by our deeds. That will decide our fate - eternal life or eternal death.
Revelation 20:12-15
And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which
were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up
the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their
works.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake
of fire.
