Today in this
world, life has become so busy that every person is so much
packed up with all his own affairs and the community
surrounding him that he hardly has anytime left for
spiritual things. People have forgotten God the creator and
the sustainer of all things. They don’t realize that God is
the one who has given them all that they have and especially
the breath of life to live and strength and ability to do
things. Most of the people in the world don’t even talk to
God through prayer and worship and the ones who do worship
and pray are also not so committed and sincere in their
devotions. Many just do it once a week only to fulfill the
formality. We human beings have to come back to our senses
and recognize our God and worship him sincerely and
faithfully because WORSHIP is going to be one of the major
criteria of our final judgment and salvation.
There are many
texts in the Bible that talk clearly about the importance of
worship. In Revelation 14:6-7 it is written as follow: And I
saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the
earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory
to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship
him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the
fountains of waters.” In this text, which is actually the
first angel’s message for the world, it says that we should
Fear God, give glory to him because his judgment is coming
near and we should only worship the LIVING GOD who has
created heaven and earth. This text has given us the clear
cut message that we should only worship the living God who
is the creator of heaven and earth.
Now we need to know
when and how we should worship Him. The Holy Bible is very
clear on this too. In Leviticus 23:3 it is written as
follow: “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day
[is] the Sabbath of rest, and holy convocation; ye shall do
no work [therein]: it [is] the Sabbath of the LORD in all
your dwellings.” This text clearly tells us that God has
appointed a special day for rest and holy convocation and
that special day for rest and holy convocation is the
SABBATH DAY. According to the set of days in the week this
holy day “Sabbath” falls on the seventh day of the week,
which is “Saturday”. This is true and is the same from
creation time until now.
Our Savoir Jesus
Christ also rested and worshipped on the seventh day which
is Sabbath. It is written in Luke 4:16 “And he came to
Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom
was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and
stood up for to read.” This text clearly tells us that Jesus
our Master and Savoir also rested and worshipped on Sabbath
according to his custom or according to his routine. By the
way remember Jesus did not follow this custom because he was
a Jew but because he wanted to obey God’s law and his Holy
Scriptures. He would never adopt a custom that went against
the Holy Scriptures and moreover He wanted to set an example
for us to follow. Remember that our Savoir never changed the
day of worship from Sabbath to any other day. If there is a
change in the day of worship among us human beings, then
this change is brought by man not by God. God appointed
Sabbath as a day of rest and worship for all human beings
not only for Jews or Seventh-day Adventists. We should not
forget that it is written in the Holy Bible in Mark 2:27
“And he said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and
not man for the Sabbath” This text tells us that Sabbath was
made for man therefore all of us who are the human beings or
come in the family of “MAN” should keep the Sabbath day
which is the seventh day as the day of rest and worship.
David said in
Psalms 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go
to the house of God.” Therefore we should always be very
glad to come to the house of God for worship. While we
worship the Lord whether it is Divine service, vesper
service, prayer meeting or any other religious meeting, we
should always remember to worship him with spirit and truth,
as it says in John 4:24 “God [is] a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.”
Lastly we should
remember that we should not stop meeting together or
worshipping together. It is written in Hebrew 10:25 “Not
forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so
much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Here we find
the final message for us that we should not stop meeting or
gathering together for worship and fellowship and as it says
in the text, we should do it more often as we see the day
approaching. In other words as we know that these are the
last days and Jesus’ second coming is very near therefore we
need to spend more time in worshipping together the living
God not the dead gods.
My message to the
whole world and especially to our Christian families is that
we should return to God, confess our sins and give sometime
to God out of our busy life schedules for prayer and worship
daily and start worshipping our Living God, who is the
creator of all things. We should worship Him regularly and
faithfully everyday and especially on His Holy day which is
Sabbath the seventh day of the week. Let’s continue having
our personal devotion daily, family worship daily and public
worship or Holy convocation once a week on Saturday which is
the Holy day of the Lord our God. This doesn’t mean we can’t
go to church on other days. Yes we can go to church on other
days too for special meetings like prayer meeting on
Wednesday and Vesper meeting on Friday or any other
spiritual revival meeting but never forget that the Holy
convocation that God wants us to have on Sabbath should not
be missed purposely and regularly and we should never
consider other days to be holy than the one God has made
holy which is only the Sabbath. God bless you!
