During a very impressive weekend of services the
Freeport Seventh- day
Adventist Church celebrated Community Services Weekend, which attracted visitors
from all over Grand Bahama who joined our regular members in a time of praise
and thanksgiving to God for what he has been able to do through His people since
the onslaught of Hurricanes Francis and Jeannie. Recognizing that it has always
been a church with a strong focus on community services primarily through
its annual Goodwill Fair and its Meals on Wheels program, this year's Director
of Community Services, Alicia Garland, underscored he need for the church to
move to the next level in catering to the felt needs of those who are
disadvantage in the island of
Grand
Bahama.
Thus building on the dream of last year's Director
of community Services, Mr. Benjamin F. Sands, for the establishment of a
community services distribution center, this weekend celebrations involved the
ground breaking ceremony for such a facility with the goal of commencing
construction within a few weeks. Mrs. Pleasant Bridgewater, Member of
Parliament for the Marco City Constituency was in attendance at the Divine
Service and at the Ground Breaking ceremony, where she delivered the keynote
address. Dr. Keith D. Albury delivered the sermon at the Divine Service. After
the groundbreaking, a delectable array of vegetarian delights and other
refreshments were prepared by a group of ladies of the church led by
Tammy Pratt."

Father's Day At Freeport
Church
Under the theme, "Father: Priest, Protector and
Provider" the Freeport Adventist Church celebrated its annual Fathers Day
program with inspirational Sabbath Day's services beginning from Sabbath School
all the way up to the AY. The women and children of the church coordinated the
planning and made sure that the Fathers of the church were made to feel very
special. The Sabbath Days' services were followed by a special breakfast on
Sunday morning with a menu of
Bahamian delights and gifts not be forgotten.
Farewell to the Benebys
The North Bahamas Mission says farewell to church
elder, Todd
And
Sis. Sherry Beneby and their children, Brittany-Simone and Shelby as they return
to Nassau after five years of living in Grand Bahama. Todd Beneby, who was
the manager of Scotia Bank in Freeport, made sure along with his wife and
children that they were involved in all aspects of the church's program while
living in Grand Bahama. They served as local leaders in both the eight Mile
Rock and Freeport churches in a number of departments including that of elder.
While we will miss them dearly, we want to thank them for their contributions to
the advancement of the Mission and wish them well in all their future endeavors.
