South Abaco Education Day – THEME: “Train up a Child”

Sabbath June 14, 2008

On Sabbath June 14, 2008 the South Abaco Church played a dual role in its programme by celebrating both Education and Father’s day.  It was a task pulled off with ease as the day got off to a good start with Sis. Leidamae Collie leading out in the Sabbath School.

South Abaco was privileged to share this day with her special guests – teachers from the South Abaco district (Government schools in Cherokee Sounds, Crossings Rocks and Sandy Point).  At the end of the Sabbath School programme gifts were presented to the 11 teachers and 10 fathers in attendance.

Carrying the same momentum into the Divine Hour Sis. Jacqueline Collie, Education Director led out delivering a powerful message about fathers as teachers, drawing illustrations from both the good and bad fathers in the Bible.  Not only was her message for the Fathers, but it showed us all that no matter what title we may fall under (teacher, father, mother, uncle, aunt, grandparent etc) we are all teachers influencing some child, and we are all admonished to, as the day’s theme suggested to: “Train up a Child…” in the way he should go Proverbs 22:6.

South Abaco’s day did not just end there.  No, that was merely the first half.  All the guests and members alike were welcomed to a scrumptious fellowship lunch.  After such good food and fellowship Education day was ended with an AY programme that helped all to remember the importance of character development (the only thing that we are taking with us to heaven).

This was a spiritual and fun filled day and all were blessed.
