The Wyoming Winter Retreat is a mini-vacation hosted by Mills Spring Ranch and the Rocky Mountain Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The goals are to provide spiritual renewal, winter recreation facilities and Christian Fellowship for families and youth.
The Winter Retreat began in February of 1989 by members of the Newcastle Seventh-day Adventist church. It has continued on President's day weekend in February each year and has undergone many changes over the years. The first retreats were only accessible by snowshoes, skis or snowmobiles. There was no running water or heated cabins. Now, 17 years later, we enjoy driving into camp in our warm cars and moving into warm cabins. The latest improvement (2004) is running water in the cafeteria with bathrooms and showers. We almost feel spoiled now.
Inhale the crisp, fresh air as you step out of your cabin and look across the white new fallen snow and watch our friendly herd of deer. Here the swish of your skis as you Wander through the snow-laden trees, across the drifted white meadow and out to the "point" where you can see the grandeur of the mountain and the valley below. Or bring your snowmobile and ride with a partner to the Archery range for an awesome view of the lakes or join the group ride through the magnificent canyon to Ponderosa Park.
