Laurie and Joyce DeWitt met in nursing school in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1969.  Neither having anything better to do decided that they would get married.  This happened in 1970.  A year later a bawling baby boy entered the scene, followed by a dandy daughter some 18 months later.

Laurie and Joyce worked as nurses for a while.  Joyce needed to spend more time with the kids, so she worked part time.  Later Laurie organized a $500,000 insurance debit.  However, he felt called to work for the Lord, so he put that aside.

A year was put in selling the Bible Story and related books.  Then some nursing, some more insurance sales, and whatever.  In January of 1979, Laurie and Joyce decided to cast their future wholly on the Lord's will.  Two months later, Laurie found himself taking theology at Pacific Union College above the beautiful Napa Valley in California.

Four years of school there and it was on to Texas where the internship began in Edinburgh and Pharr, Texas.  After 10 months it was on to Galveston/Texas City, Texas. Then Conroe, Texas. Then Rusk and Elkhart, Texas. One day there was a phone call inviting them to move to Alberta, Canada to pastor the Lethbridge church. "Why not?" Joyce said, so off they went for a exciting 3 year adventure.

The need came to be closer home, so Laurie and Joyce moved back to pastor in the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference.

Besides his LPN and BS in theology, Laurie has taken 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in a hospital setting, has worked with Prepare/Enrich, Marriage Encounter, Binding the Wounds (for emotional healing) and the Peacemaker seminar.

His hobbies include computers, automobiles, and gardening.

Joyce is an LPN, and has 3 years experience in a Chemical Dependency setting, and has her PHT (putting hubby through).

They have 3 grandchildren (can we show you the pictures?) that live out of state.

They live more or less quietly with 4 cats and a daschound.
