Here is the list of activities that the Michigan Adventurers did for May-June 2002

Alpena Trailblazers - made a bird feeder out of milk or juice cartons, completed bird notebooks, built model boats and assembled boats and sails. They had a gym game time, played freeze tag and other group games and attended Adventurer Fun Day. Parents and kids worked on identifying birds and their sounds, hung up their bird feeder and watched and identified birds that came to feed there. Award: Feathered Friends.

Detroit NW Sparrows - decorated and completed a beautiful Mother’s Day card. Awards: Media Critic, Temperance, and Wise Steward.

Escanaba White Tigers - colored Bible pictures, helped pick up offering during Pathfinder Sabbath. Awards: Bible I, Health Specialist, and Artist.

Eau Claire Eagles - made Valentine flutter hearts and magnetic elephants, bluebird houses, decorated Valentine sacks, made silk flower arrangements, pom pom craft for the boys and hair ribbons for the girls. They had a Valentine party, visited an extended care facility and sang to church member there, did a treasure hunt at the park, went on sunshine bands to nursing home and sang and made a craft with residents, visited the Binder Park Zoo, had a year end pizza party and worked on the President’s Physical Fitness award. Awards: Carpentry, Handicraft, and Environmentalist.

Frankfort Flyers - worked on their class workbooks and attended Adventurer Fun Day.

Grand Haven Waves - worked on their classwork. Awards: Environmentalist, Hygiene, Fitness Fun, Bible I & II, and Friend of Animals.

Grand Rapids Aventureros de Jesus - made a cat puppet, pom pom dog with dish, bookmarks, woodstand, invitations for Adventurer Sabbath, giraffe & camel stand-ups, and paper plate monkeys. They took stuffed animals to sick children, had an Adventurer Sabbath, took jelly bean baskets to sick church members, went camping, had week of prayer and Investiture. Parents and children went skiing, to a Valentine’s banquet, worked on science project, took trips to Atlanta and Tennessee, went rock climbing, made workshop bears, played at the mall, went roller skating, to a birthday party, bowling, on a treasure hunt, ate at the Olive Garden, baked cookies, went to the park, to a farm museum, had a field day, and went out for ice cream. Family network topics were “Forgetting our Traditions,” “Learning to Pray Looking at Jesus,” “The Home and the Christian Family,” and “How to Answer Your Child’s Questions.” Awards: Pets & Zoo Animals.

Holly Hedgehogs - made cards for Gardener family, picture cards for Mr. Pickarek, animal masks, booklets, and popsicle stick picture frame. They attended Fun Day and had their investiture. Parents and kids ate at Chuckie Cheese & the Rainforest Cafe, visited an airport at midnight, built a snow fort, went sledding, to the library, bowling, cross country skiing at Camp Au Sable, visited Sea World, went for a walk, had talk-time, planted a garden together, read, and went canoeing. Awards: Artist, Wise Steward, Friend of Animals, Media Critic, Safety Specialist, Health Specialist, and Temperance.

Houghton Lake Shining Lights - made temperance posters, white wing paper airplanes, balsam wood airplanes/gliders, and kites. Kids and parents went bowling and worked on classwork. Awards: Temperance, Friend of Jesus, Guide, Build and Fly, and Home Helper.

Ionia Shepherds -made a cottonball worm in a nest on a branch, a heart person, cards for the elderly, American flag magnets, and paper mache animals. They visited the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, played Simon Says, went to Fun Day and parents and kids went skiing. Awards: Safety Specialist, Courtesy, Media Critic, Temperance, Hygiene, and Artist.

Ithaca Gems - made heart bean craft, pencil cup with rolled up magazine page strips, bird feeder pine cone, visited a police station, the fire department, Lakeland Mills Wooden Furniture Factory, and Fredrick Meijer Gardens. Parents and kids read, cooked, cleaned, shopped, went snowboarding, roller skating, fort building, to a ball game, visited a nursing home, washed clothes, gathered sticks, rode horses, baked, explored nature, and helped with food preparation. Awards: Fitness Fun, Homecraft, Road Safety, Feathered Friends, Fitness Fun, and Friend of Nature.

Lansing Lightning Bugs - made thank-you cards, chocolate leafs, and temperance posters. Awards: Music Maker, Trees, and Temperance.

Lapeer Panther Cubs - made stained glass sun-catchers, pillows, and drew pictures of Heaven. They attended Fun Day and parents and kids worked on sign language. Awards: Pearly Gate, Birds, Music Maker, Temperance, and Health Specialist.

Mt. Pleasant Mountaineers - made a tree book, a food mobile, a mask, puppets, environmentalist book, thank-you cards, did drawings, and visited the Chippewa Nature Center. Parents and kids vacationed in Florida, visited relatives, flew kites, played catch, went sledding, went to a Health Fair, took a 4-wheeler ride, went to a park, a brother’s basketball game, and rode on dad’s paper route. Network meetings covered Dr. Lorraine Day’s health video, and Kay Kuzma’s video’s 1 & 2. Awards: Courtesy, Bible I & II, Fitness Fun, Friend of Animals, Road Safety, Wise Steward, Friend of Nature, and Environmentalist.

Niles Nightingales - worked on their classwork. Award: Gardening.

Owosso Otters - made candles and puppets, worked on a song to play with recorders and went to a Youth Symphony Orchestra performance. Parents and kids went shopping, out to dinner, read, visited museums, had snuggle time, played board games, visited a bookstore, a zoo, and went swimming. Awards: Five Senses (Florida) and Music Maker.

Pinedale Discovers - made butterfly sun catchers, visited Frederick Meijers Gardens to see the butterflies and went to Farmy history Day in South Haven. Award: Beautiful Wings.

PMC Forever Friends - made Valentine heart baskets, picture magnets & cards, money holders, picture frames, thank-you cards, puzzles, paper insects, Easter decorations, wild animal booklet, paper bag hand puppets, bookmarks, and rainbow sticks. They took CD, Valentine cards & baskets to Timber Ridge retirees on Valentine’s eve by families, toured Berrien County Fire Stations 5 engines and learned all about firemen and safety, had an insect Easter hunt on Lemon Creek Trail, teachers visited critically ill teacher taking cards that members had made, helped build Wolf’s Prairie playground in Berrien Springs, marched in A.U. homecoming parade, attended Fun Day, helped with family of teacher who died, rehearsed for investiture, and did a car wash fund raiser for Malawi project. Parents and kids went sledding, traveling, visited sick friend, helped neighbors, snow shoveled, read, helped set up church, went roller skating/blading, went to a beach, biked, cooked, visited family, helped with community building project, gardened, helped with A.U. sanctuary tours, played games, went canoeing, attended a family graduation, packed, moved, and visited the zoo. Family meetings discussed the last of the Peacemaker series, Single Parenting, 3 Keys to Discipline, and completed a survey of year. Awards: Fitness Fun, Media Critic, Wise Steward, Road Safety, Safety Specialist, Troubadour, Courtesy, Temperance, Cyclist, Flowers, Rainbow Promise, and several awards from the Florida Conference.

St. Joe County Beacons - made Valentine’s animal banks, tissue box covers, designed containers filled with colored sand, sand pictures, colored and put on letters for our church First Aid Kit, made wind whirlers and picture frames. They had an American Red Cross instructor come and teach basic first aid, another guest came and taught how to play nose flutes, visited and had prayer with a church shut-in and delivered flowers and fruit to them, had a pizza party and Investiture. Awards: First Aid Helper, Courtesy, Wise Steward, Hygiene, Fitness Fun, Music Maker, Temperance, Environmentalist, Caring Friend, Friend of Nature, and Media Critic.

Stevensville Stars - toured the St. Joseph Police Station and attended Fun Day. Award: Sign Language.

Traverse City Jr. Cherrylanders - made t-shirts for temperance posters, and did a dot-to-dot coloring project. Kids and parents went swimming, skiing, read, cooked, did stamp art, visited the library, had a horse outing, and played piano. Awards: Fitness Fun, Health Specialist, Road Safety, Courtesy, Bible II, Temperance, Wise Steward, Music Make, Sign Language, Hygiene, and Pres. Challenge.

Warren Blue Jays - had a sweetheart couples dinner with ballet, singing, and ventriloquist entertainers, visited a nursing home, had a pancake fundraiser, built decorative birdhouse and made perfume bath salts. Award: carpentry.

Waterford Young Hawks - made lace & foam valentines, tin pie plate craft, metal bunny bell ornament, zoo animal magnet, “Jonah and the Whale” hang-up, did rock painting, and made hand puppets. They visited the Detroit Science Center, went to the park and learned how sap is taken from the maple trees and prepared for syrup learned about rocks, sang at a nursing home, attended Fun Day, had investiture, and a party with games and food for kids and parents. Kids and parents read stories, helped set table, special prayer time for dad who is in hospital, baked cookies, went grocery shopping, set table, colored, walked in the park, played ball, went to the zoo and played table games. Network topics were “Teaching Christian Courtesy,” “What is Your Personality?” “Parenting is for a Lifetime,” and “How to Involve Kids in Private Devotions.” Awards: Bible I, Sewing, Safety Specialist, Health Specialist, Wise Steward, Friend of Animal, Friend of Nature, Reporter, and Geology.

Wilson Eagles - painted, glued and decorated a clay pot frog, made a cross box, a birdhouse, bead items, and visited a woodworking shop and sawmill. Parents and kids went skiing, played table games, cleaned house, worked on wood craft item, read stories, and did homework. Awards: Skier, Handicraft, Gymnast, Caring Friend, Bead Craft, Media Critic, Carpentry, and Environmentalist.

Wyoming Wood Ducks - sewed on buttons, made bean bags, decorated basket for gift, made plastic butterflies for trimming primary room, visited the John Ball Park Zoo. Parents and kids went roller skating, ice skating, played Bible games, read, played street hockey and soccer, went shopping, rented a movie, went to a lake and operated a remote control boat. Awards: Sewing Fun, Artist, and Collector.
