Subject: SA-SDA Admin.

Greetings Friends,

Almost 100 mails have been exchanged in the past two weeks and the
subscription to the list has increase drastically. I hope we all
received some encouragement in one way or another.
Here are some few items that I would like to share with you:

Masabatha on-line (www.masabatha.org)
We need your contributions in the form of Sermons, testimonies,
essays and papers etc. I know some of you preach on the weekly basis
and some of have written on different topics that might be of
interest to others.
We also like to hear your views about this site, what we could add,
subtract or improve.
We hope to download the SA-SDA discussions to Masabatha On-line once
a week.

SS Lesson Study
I think it would be a good idea to discuss the Sabbath School Lesson.

In order to do this; I would like to request for volunteer(s) who
will prepare a weekly outline for us.
The outline can be in a form of a summary and questions, some form of
an overview.
You can volunteer for a week, two weeks, a month, etc.

Mail forwarding
I would like us to try not to forward mails to the list.
If you have a message that you received from someone please cut it
out (clean it) and then send it as a regular mail to the list. And
let's try to send only text format messages. If you have a PPT
format, please convert it first to text and them send it.
If you have images files please send them to masabatha@yahoo.com and
they will be published in Masabatha On-line.
In our respond let's try to keep only the last mail that we are
responding to, you can cut and parts of the early mails if you want
to comment on them.

South Africa News
Some of you are aware that I am not currently in SA, so I have
difficulties in getting South African News. I would like request
volunteers who will collect news from around South Africa. I would be
nice if we can get at least one person in each conference collect
news items for us.
Information is power.

SAUC / Maranatha
We still have a problem of publicity, I wish we can put an ad on some
of SAUC/conferences newsletters, do they still have Maranatha? Does
anyone have a contact for the SAUC communications dept. and/or the
editor of Maranatha?
We are open to any suggestions on how we can publicize ourselves.

South African SDA Web sites?
Yesterday I received a mail from someone who was complaining that in
Masabatha On-line, I have excluded SA SDA web sites in favor of
American SDA sites. I wrote back to him, telling him that I know only
two other SDA sites, HBC and TOC.
Are there any other SA SDA web sites out there?

I think it is of great importance for us as a church to have a
present on the web. To this end, I provide a free service to South
African church organisation that will like to create a presence on
the Web. I have just completed the design for the TOC web site. I
have made an offer to SDASA and I will make similar offers to any
other church entity in the SAUC. Since I do this as a hobby, the
turnaround time might be a bit longer and I don't promise a constant
update.
Are there any other SDA's out there who can speak HTML and would like
to be part of this ministry?

I will appreciate your comments and views!

The King is even at the door!

The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Daniel,

I think it means that salvation is by faith and faith only. Our works
wether good or bad have nothing to do with our salvation. A thief on
the cross, didn't get a change to clear his record by good works, all
he had on his record works was bad works, if we were saved by works
he was not going to have a chance.
Thank God salvation is by faith!

Jesus is coming back again!

This one is for you Dawn,
It was a brave and strong act you took - I know you knew there is always a
reason for what one goes through. God made a plan for all of us - even though
sometimes we seem to do our own things. We must remember God will never put one
through a situation that He knows we cannot handle.
By the way - this did not happen to me, it happened to somebody that I never
used to care about, but now I think God send me to be a sister to this Girl, and
I can see she knows that after what happened to her, someone is praying for her
and someone cares - and I always ask God to give me strength to give her the
support she needs, and she needed someone who won't judge her.
Let us pray for the young youth. Pray for me too.

SOMEBODY NEEDS US TO HAVE FAITH IN THEM

Thank you for this. I just wanted to add in something I read recently.
After the war in Rwanda there are a lot of children of soldiers who raped
some of the girls and killed others. The story of one of these girls was
told in a recent issue of the Fair Lady magazine. Out of this terrible
situation came a wonderful little boy. At first she couldn't bear to look
at him and just "mothered" him out of necessity. But one day when she was
holding him, he smiled and she realized he was smiling just for her! That
changed things for her and now she loves him unconditionally. There are
large communities of women living together in that country now, who support
and help each other, and don't ask about the past.

I think the best thing you can do for someone who has been through this
situation is to give them all the love and support you can. It was only
through the love and support of my family and church that I was able to deal
easily with my situation and come out a winner!

There are many who judge a young girl who falls pregnant, either by accident
or by rape or any other situation - this does nothing to help that girl or
keep her close to her church family. Someone in this situation is very
sensitive to any comment or attitude and care needs to be taken to only show
support, love and understanding.

Wishing you a good day!

Dawn

Daniel
You have raised a very serious and important subject. I accept the
statement that we are justified by faith but judged by works. The Bible
makes it clear that God will bring our works to judgement, (Ecc. 12:7, Matt.
25:31-45, etc. When God judges the works He wants to see if they are works
of faith or not. For it is faith that justifies and not works. But
remember faith without works is dead, (James 2:14-26) . For me to see your
faith I have to look at your works, but I cannot judge, for it is God alone
who can examinie the works to see if they result from a genuine faith or
not.

The group in Matthew 7:21 shows the Judge a list of works they performed ,
but he was not impressed, for faith was lacking. For in the same passage,
He says, they did not do His will, and Paul says "without faith it is
impossible to please Him, or to do his will". But those in Mathew 25, are
surprised when they are told the things they have done. You see the
difference, Dan? Like the Pharisee and the publican, you do not present
your works to God but your sinful heart and your willingness to change.

John puts it simply. He says "without me you can do nothing" Unless the
branch abides in the tree, it cannot produce the fruit. The fruit is the
unmistakable evidence of abiding... But the branch does not boast about the
fruit, it is the owner who brags, or shows off. Producing the fruit is not
mandatory, though sometimes we make it so, it is also not optional, as some
of us think, it is inevitable. Boasting about something that is inevitable
is not a sure sign of intelligence.

That's it Dan, it is your relationship not your works, but you know what I
mean......

From: Daniel Dlongolo <daniel@4gl.co.za>

Brethren,

I came across the following interesting statement when I was
reading Pastor Morris Venden's book "95 Thesis On Righteousness By Faith"

"Our good works have nothing to do with CAUSING us to be saved, and our
bad works have nothing to do with CAUSING us to be lost."

I'm sorry that I cannot remember the page number, I can check it out.

What do you say about this statement? How do our works (good or bad)
relate to our salvation?

Keep Looking Up!

Subject: Why was the serpent punished?

Here is the question that was asked in our SS lesson last week.

In the story of the fall of man, Satan came to the woman in the form of a serpent.
Why was the serpent (snake) punished whereas Satan was the one at fault?
I understand it used to be able to fly/walk and its wings/legs was taken away after it was used by Satan?
Could it be that the snake was the first creature on earth to sin?

Come let's reason together!

Jeremiah

In view of the discussion on good works, I thought this might be
appropriate!
