The phrase 'Signs of the times are everywhere' is not only the lyrics of the song it is also the life theme of our times. The clouds of the fulfillment of prophecy are gathering together. The whole world is, as it were, astonished and following the beast. The beast with lamb like horns has already taken its position according to prophesy. It is indeed getting darker and darker each day. The church of God, at least in our part of the world, is like children playing in the playground, who do not realize that a thunderstorm is coming. The game they are playing is called "Mahundune" in Tshivenda. (It is a game where children play a family scene, one will be a father, mother, children, etc). In this game that the church of God is playing, there are such roles like a Pastor, Elder, deacons, etc. To all of them, it is just a game, they don't realize that the storm is coming. If ever we had the true sense of our calling. If ever we can have a second look at Calvary, and see the price that has been paid for us. If ever we could understand the times that we live in. We will be filled with the great fear of the Lord, and we will treble before him, we will rush to him in prayer. We will rush to go and tell are friends and neighbors that Jesus is coming soon. There is a feeling in the air, indeed something is about to happen, and that's the Second Coming of Christ. Yet the church is in a deep sleep, drugged by the drug of materialism and selfishness, which, in itself a religion which, strange enough, accepts the Sabbath day doctrine. The work of evangelism is the work of each and every member of the church. E.G White says " To everyone work has been allotted, and no one can be substitute for another. Each one has a mission of wonderful importance, which he cannot neglect or ignore, as fulfillment of it involves the seal of some soul, and the neglect of it the woe of one whom Christ died." But in our case church members thinks the Lay Activities leader must do it, the lay activities leader thinks the elder must do it, an elder thinks the Pastor must do it. I suppose the pastor thinks Pentecost 98 will do it. With the population of about 40 million there is less that 70 thousand Seventh Day Adventists. To you who work in the factory, to you who is in the corporate world, public service, etc. the same message that came to Esther: "Who knows that you didn't come to the palace for a time such as this." Who knows that God directed me to join this company for such a time as this. When the reality of this message grabbed me I could only cry out to the Lord "What would thou have me to do?" He said to me start a Bible study with you colleagues, send emails to your friends and colleagues telling that "Jesus is coming back again" How about you my friend? What are you going to do? "If you remain silent at a time like this, relief and deliverance for the Jews (your friends, colleagues and relatives, if you please) will come from another place. God always have a plan B but He has placed us in His plan A. What are you going to do about it? As the song goes " You cannot cross the ocean, and the heathen lands explore, you can find the heathen nearer, you can help them at your door. If you cannot speak like angels, if you can not preach like Paul, you can tell the love of Jesus, You can say He died for all.
This is not meant to be one of those messages that just makes you feel guilty and does not suggest the solutions: So the question is what can I do? You might not be able to start a Bible study as Malozwe has done, but you can:
Like Jeremiah you might preach for 40 years without one convert, but God will understand and say 'Well Done'. We are not called to convert people, but to preach the gospel of salvation, and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.
