Police Sabbath
Police Sabbath
May 8th, 1999- This was a red letter day for the Marystown Seventh-day Adventist Church! We had been planning a special service to honor those men and women of our local RCMP Branch on the Burin Peninsula. All of the Seventh-day Adventist Churches across the island decided that we would take this opportunity to let those officers and employee's of the RCMP know that they had support in their communities.
We had planned to have in attendance that day about 50 people. However, we were delighted and surprised as the Lord blessed us with 73 people from our community. This included Mary Hodder, MHA; Rev. Bob Peddle and Rev. Oscar Elms, Ministerial Alliance; and representatives from the Town of Marystown and the local press.
Near the end of the service the local RCMP Sergeant accepted a plaque from our church honoring Police week for 1999. Following the service was a large meal prepared by the ladies of the church in which all had a fill of good food and fellowship. At 2:30pm that afternoon we were treated to a gospel concert by the group Bound For Glory out of Conception Bay South.
This truly was a day that put the Marystown Seventh-day Adventist Church at a new level in our hometown.

July 1st Picnic

Our church believes that a church that plays together stays together. So in that spirit we occasionally have church socials, and in the month of July we had a church picnic in conjunction with Canada day.
A good time was had by all on this windy but beautiful day. We had swimming, water skiing, badminton, water balloon toss, sea doo rides, tubing and a lot of good food.
Nearly our entire church showed up as well as friends that we had invited. We started at 11:00am and went until 10:30 pm that night. Fellowship is important not only just for church but during the month also. We currently hold an open gym night the last Sunday night of every month at a local high school and have other socials through out the year. Our next one is planned for August 15th so stay tuned for more pictures and details.
