Welcome To The Deacon's Corner"Those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus." 1Timothy 3:13 OverviewDeacons' Code of ConductThere needs to be a few established ground rules. This is where they are written out and documented. Please follow the procedures given in the Bible if there are any problems with this, i.e. speak to me (Wayne Salhany, Head Deacon) personally. As always, I would enjoy talking with you about any of this and all of this! Your feedback is appreciated. We are ResponsibleJesus is a Man of His Word. If you don't want to do something then don't volunteer for it. If you are asked to do something that you can't do, "SAY NO". If you agree to do something then do it. If you agree to do something and you can't do it personally, find someone else to do it. If you can't find someone else to do it, find someone who CAN find someone else to do it. That is why we have an organization. Working together we can make sure that everything that needs to be done gets done. Working together we can also get things done that would not get done any other way. We are ImportantWe are children of God! We each have different skills and spiritual gifts but all are important. Remember what the Bible says in I Corinthians 12 when it compares the church to the human body. The different body parts have different functions but the body is not complete unless all the parts are there. Value and appreciate each team member. We are VolunteersJesus came to earth voluntarily. Remember that everyone in the group is a volunteer. Even if your responsibility is to hire someone from outside the group to do a specific task, you are still a volunteer. We volunteer because Jesus loves us, not because we have to.
We have initiativeJesus often said what had to be said and did what had to be done without approval from earthly authority. We want to be like Jesus and bring Him honor. We are open and honestWe want to copy Christ. When we see a problem that needs to be fixed and take the initiative to do something about it we let others know. The reason we do this is to avoid duplication of effort and to use time wisely, not to grab glory to ourselves. If we find that we have taken more responsibility than we can handle we let someone know so we can share the load. We serve the members and their guestsEverything that we do adds to the total experience of the members and
guests. Whether it is something out of place or missing, a problem with
electricity or plumbing, whatever it may be, it affects the worship
experience. Those of us that are more "mature" realize that in some parts
of the world people worship in grass huts! But that is not HERE! |
