Matthew Munn - He'd Rather Have Jesus

"Lions Club names Teen-agers of the Year"
That was the headline in The News Journal, Wilmington, Del. on April 28, 1998.  The story by Nan Clements goes on to say, "Two 17-year-olds, seniors at Concord and Mount Pleasant high schools, have been chosen as Teen-agers of the Year.
"Last month's ceremony marked the 41st time the Lions Club of Wilmington has honored teens 'who make a positive difference in our society,' said Wilfred E. Kingsley, chairman of the program.
"Munn, the Mount Pleasant student, was recognized in part for his strong religious beliefs, which led him to give up playing varsity football and an almost-certain athletic scholarship for college.
"He's a Seventh-day Adventist, a member of a church that observes the Sabbath on Saturday, when most football games are played, including those at Mount Pleasant. He played junior varsity football, but refused to play on the high school squad despite outstanding athletic ability, Kingsley said.
"He had the potential to be one of Mount Pleasant's best running backs ever," Kingsley said.
"'I was raised in the church, and it's a big part of my life and I've learned to love it,' he said.
"Munn, the son of John and Juanita H. Munn of Radnor Woods, plans to study computer programming and graphics at the University of Delaware."

At Macedonia, we're all very proud of this young man. Matt is well-liked and admired by young and old.  He also has a great sense of humor and is lyricist for Macedonia's Rappin' Deacons which you can hear in Real Audio.
