Dear Sir/Madam:

RE: INTRODUCTORY LETTER.

Greetings in the name of the King of Kings.

We are a registered Seventh Day Adventist Church group with a membership of about 200. Majority of us are peasant farmers where they earn meager income just for survival. Most of them are women and children, about two-thirds (2/3)of the total congregation.

The church is situated in Chebaywa Location, Matete Division, Lugari District. As per the statistics of Lugari District Ministry of Health 2002/2003, the demographic projection of target population shows that Matete Division has a population of 51,275. Forty-eight percent (48%) of the group is below 15 years, 28.7% between 15 and 49 years. The latter group constitutes the reproductive age, which is highly vulnerable to common diseases including measles, malaria and upper respiratory infections that claim many lives in the community. Matete Division has more than six secondary schools and 35 primary schools, but only one public health centre.

The HIV/AIDS prevalence is 11.7%. Consequently, the church has embarked on a community development program, the construction of a Health centre/Dispensary that requires charitable and mutual assistance since majority of the members have poor socio-economic base with only five members (4 men, 1 woman) employed in the public service, on meagre salaries.

Despite the prevailing socio-economic hardships the members' united efforts have spiritedly contributed to the following achievements.

  1. Purchasing 1/2 acre (0.2 Ha) special plot Registered land title number North Kabras/Kivayya/l317 sealed by the S.D.A church, East Africa Union whose headquarters is in Nairobi.
  2. Fencing the plot with 3 rounds barbed wire.
  3. Planting trees in the plot.
  4. Hired experts to draw standard plans for the church and the health centre certified by the District Public Health Officer (PHO) together with priced material lists.
  5. Received clearance letters from both the Government, PHO, and the church's Western Kenya Field (W.K.F.)
  6. Embarked on monthly special offering to improve and sustain Development Fund.
  7. Bought a cross breed cow which has now given birth to 3 live offsprings ranched in recommended members' homes so that the milk produced services the families of the very members while 3/4 Liters of it is sold to boost the Development Fund daily by each caretaker.
  8. Opened bank account for the project whose particulars are:

    Account Name: Kiliboti SDA Church
    Account Number: 184 283 639
Bank: Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Ltd.
    Branch: Webuye
    Swift Code: KCBLKENX072

The bank account has three signatories duly recommended at the church business meeting and certified by the Church Field Headquarters (WKF).

  1. Endeavoring to construct the church as per the plan recommended.
  2. Through our small project (Dairy/poultry) we are also trying to establish a charity fund to uplift the poor (aged, orphans, widows and disabled).

Comrade, we sincerely urge you to assist us accordingly. Our visionary hope stands: As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Our solemn promise: Maximum accountability and transparency for every donation offered by good Samaritans. The program is taking us long to accomplish due to our socio-economically weak status. We patiently believe and trust that the Lord of Lords shall do wonders through you to witness to this reality: John 15:7.

With esteemed regards, we thank you in advance.

Yours at service,
