Step One: We admitted we were powerless over our separation from God and that our lives had become unmanageable. Psalm 6:2-4; Psalm 31:9, 10; Psalm 38:1-9; Matthew 9:36; Romans 7:18-20.

Step Two: Came to believe that God, a power greater than ourselves, could restore us to sanity. Psalm 18:1-3; Psalm 142; Luke 13:10-13; John 6:63; John 12:46.

Step Three: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God. Psalm 91:1-4; Proverbs 3:5,6; Matthew 11:28-30; Matthew 16:21-26; Ephesians 2:8, 9.

Step Four: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Proverbs 16:2, 3; Matthew 23:23-28; Luke 12:1-6; Romans 13:11-14; Galatians 6:3-5.

Step Five: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another person, the exact nature of our wrongs. Proverbs 28:13, 14; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Hebrews 4:12-16; James 5:16; 1 John 1:8, 9.

Step Six: Were entirely ready to have God remove these defects of character. Psalm 119:28-40; Romans 6:11, 12; Colossians 3:5-8; 1 John 4:18; Revelation 3:19, 20.

Step Seven: Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings. Psalm 32:6-8; Matthew 18:4; Acts 3:19; Hebrews 12:5-11; 1 Peter 5:6, 7.

Step Eight: Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. Luke 19:8; John 13:34, 35; 1 Corinthians 13; 2 Timothy 1:7; James 4:11, 12.

Step Nine: Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Proverbs 16:20-24; Romans 15:2; Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 4:5, 6; Philemon 8-17.

Step Ten: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. Psalm 85:8, 9; Mark 14:38; Romans 12:3; Hebrews 2:1-3; 1 Peter 2:11.

Step Eleven: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry it out. Psalm 84:5-12; John 4:13, 14; Romans 8:26-28; Galatians 2:20; Titus 3:1-7.

Step Twelve: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we try to carry this message to others and practice these principles in all our affairs. Psalm 92:1-4; Proverbs 31:26-31; Mark 5:18-20; 1 Corinthians 9:22-27; 1 Timothy 1:12-16.
