- Their beginningness: they are just getting started; looking for role
model;
learning from mistakes.
- Accept them where they are; let them know they are acceptable.
- Unconditional love: "I love you just as you are, no matter
what--even though I may not like what you are doing."
- Encourage gifts and talents; make support available.
- Recognize physical attainments; affirm growth and capability. Allow
them to do what they can.
- Avoid thinking that counteracts the facts: could of, should of, would of.
- Spiritual importance and growth: use phrases such as "precious
to God," "Jesus loves you," and "Jesus forgives
freely."
