FAQ ON PAULA’S BREAST CANCER
1. When did you get diagnose with breast cancer? One morning after showering, I discovered 3 lumps (4cm each) and was diagnose with invasive (infiltrating) ductal carcinoma on August 4th, 2006.
2. Were you receiving regular mammograms in the past? Absolutely. In addition, I did regular self breast exams and had clinical breast exams performed.
3. Has anybody in your family been diagnose with breast cancer? No, that includes ovarian cancer. The genetic counselor, upon assessment concluded that genetic testing was not even warranted.
4. How severe was your cancer? The highest aggressive grade: 3 of 3 (Scarff Bloom Richardson) and in stage II B, just short of the advance stage. The mitotic count and Ki67 percent, items on pathology reports that gives the severity of cancer cells were also high. Estrogen receptor-positive and HER2 positive.
5. Did you have surgery? Yes, I had a modified radical mastectomy 7 days later on August 11th. One out of ten lymph nodes were positive for cancer.
6. Did your cancer spread to other parts of the body. Based on a bone scan, the cancer was not found in the bones. However, based on CT scans and PET scans, there is a lymph node behind the sternum that shows an abnormal size and activity for cancer.
7. Did you take chemotherapy? Yes, the non-poisonous kind. Although our Christain oncologist suggested conventional chemotherapy, through prayer, the Lord directed us to use non-poisonous chemotherapy agents directly from the plant kingdom.
8. What else did your oncologist suggest for treatment? He suggested radiation, herceptin and drugs for hormone therapy. Based on the lymph node location and what had to be done in order to administer the radiation along with the added risk of congestive heart failure; we decided not to take radiation. However, we are taking non-toxic hormone therapy and immunotherapy directly from the plant kingdom.
9. What was your oncologist(s) response? Our Christian oncologist respected our decision and stated, "You're not the first to refuse chemo[therapy] and you won't be the last. However, I feel good about you guys because it appears you've done your homework and have a program in place." His Physician Assistant said, "What you are doing is theoretically and reasonably sound." 10. So, exactly what are these non-poisonous/toxic agents you’re taking? Seven programs targeting cancer on 3 dvd's along with a 55pg. book is available for a complete overview. This unique cancer set takes a no-nonsense practical approach on the major areas of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) for cancer management based on clinical studies published in peer-review medicals journals. The information will reveal in a practical way the answers to questions 7 and 8. Log onto our "Product" page for details at: www.hseminars.com
11. Are you still eating lots of soy products? Generally speaking, we don't beleive it is prudent to eat a lot of any one food - soy included! There has been many days that I don't consume any soy products at all. Currently, (and over the years) we eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and a variety of legumes; a plant-based, vegan vegetarian diet. However, I do demonstrate with soy ( & tofu) a lot simply because I've found many idividuals don't know how to use it properly and make it palatable.
12. But I heard that studies have shown soy causes breast cancer? As a researcher, I look at what we call the weight of evidence. We beleive it is not prudent to allow a few negative studies over-ride and cancel out an overwhelming host of positive studies on any one food item. By the way, populations that has the highest soy intake also has the lowest rate of cancer! In fact, since my cancer is estrogen positive, soy plays an important role in my battle-plan due to the fact that soy mimics tamoxifen, a drug that actually contains estrogen! There is a section in our cancer book that explains this issue in detail. Click here for soy update: womentowomen.com
13. Taking in account of your healthy lifestyle, what do you believe caused your cancer? Over the months, God has given us innumerable opportunities to minister to cancer survivors and others throughout this country and abroad in a more personal way. There are many individuals who are suffering and need a sense of direction, understanding and spiritual comfort while experiencing their disease. Satan meant it for evil, but, God meant it for good.

UPDATE: Over the months, there has been a constant steady improvement based on lab results and PET scans. Based on my last CT scan July 20th, 2007, our oncologist stated that, "YOU ARE DEFINITELY IN [COMPLETE] REMISSION...YOU'RE CANCER FREE."
PRAISE THE LORD!
