The Woman At The Well

It was more than human thirst,
Led the Saviour to the well;
hearts sometimes will almost burst,
With a longing they can't tell.

And the one who knew and sees,
And who spares the sparrows fall;
Diagnosed this girls disease,
When he bade the Saviour call.

God filled up her empty heart,
With a spring that would not fail,
Yes, her medicine must smart,
But she left him strong and hale.

Pause Oh, Sinner stop and think,
And if foul your mug with mould;
Ask your Saviour for a drink,
And lifes beauty you'll behold.

Thought your life is black as ink,
Life eternal is a prize,
Come, ye to the fountian brink
Christ your Saviour stands and cries.
