This letter was in the Charismatic Seventh-day Adventist On-line Congregation's web community (CSDA).  It is about soul winning, which is a thought provoaking and important subject.  The author of the letter has requested to remain anonymous. A link to CSDA follows this epistle.

I don't know of anything that brings more happiness to me than seeing someone give their heart to the Lord. As part of the body of Christ each of us are called to share the story of Jesus (The Gospel) with others, leading them to their Savior. When we are not winning souls for the kingdom of God, we have lost our purpose.
A Soul-winning believer brings others to Christ with their:
1.) Wisdom
  • Proverbs 11:30 - “He who wins souls is wise.”
  • Colossians 4:5, 6 - ”Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity.”
2.) Words
  • Colossians 4:6 - “Let your conversation be always full of grace,  seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
  • Matthew 10:32 - “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also  acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.”
3.) Walk
  • Proverbs 14:5 - “A truthful witness does not deceive.”

Whether you realize it or not, people watch you. I had the privilege of living in a pastor’s home when I was attending the Academy as a teenager. It seemed liked everybody was watching me. They were seeing if I really served the Lord or not. I felt like I lived in a glass house. I had a choice to make. Would I become bitter about the fact that people were watching me? Or would I use this as an opportunity to reflect a positive spiritual testimony to anyone who was “checking me out?”

To a certain extent, people watch you also. Your testimony can drive them away from the Lord or draw them to the cross. Your walk makes a world of difference.
4.) Works
  • Matthew 5:14-16 - “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everything in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
5.) Worship
  • Acts 16:25-34 - Paul and Silas praised the Lord, even while they were in chains. Their praise not only led to their deliverance, it led to the salvation of the jailer and his household.
6.) Wounds
  • The pain and hurt that you have experienced over the years can be great testimonies to a hurting world.
7.) Will
  • Do you really want to win souls for the Lord? Because if you don’t  want to, then it’s not going to happen.

Deeper Faith Projects:
  1. Set a soul-winning goal. For example, tell the Lord that from today until December 31st, you purpose to win 10 people to Christ
  2. Memorize the “Romans Road to Salvation” (4 simple verses to quote when speaking to someone about their need to  receive Christ.
  • Romans 3:23,
  • Romans 6:23;
  • Romans 5:8
  • Romans 10:13
  1. Put soul-winning on your calendar (or Palm Pilot). Set a specific time to purposely talk to people about Christ. Conversation with God:
  •  Proverbs 11:30 - What is God saying to me through this Scripture? What do I want to tell God in response to what He is saying? Pray for each person you meet today that does not know Christ.
