VOLUNTEER MISSION PILOT JOE ALEXANDER COMPLETES 3 MONTHS OF SERVICE

January 13, 1998

Joe Alexander is an experienced professional pilot with a desire to experience mission life. He flew down to Guyana to join our program in mid-November for a period of three months. Knowing that we would be leaving Guyana during part of his period of service did not stop Joe. He worked hard in helping to

finish the runway at Arau, work on the airplane in Kaikan, and finally spent the last two months in Paruima during our absence working in the construction of the new school.

What I especially appreciate about Joe is his willingness to do anything to help, anything. Even though most of his three months were spent in an isolated village, not involved in any aviation services, he happily accepted the task. Due to a delay in our return to Guyana, Joe found himself without a flight out to Georgetown. He therefore took a canoe trip to Kamarang, hoping to catch a flight out to Georgetown. After three days in Kamarang he was finally able to get his flight out. However, he arrived penniless, tired and hungry. He was picked up at the airport by Bro. Winston James, Educational Secretary of the Guyana Conference and my brother-in-law, Ted Burgdorff. They took Joe home and fed him a good meal.

We met Joe in Miami on our way down to Guyana. After greeting each other I expressed my appreciation to Joe for the quality of his mission service. His response was,

"I have decided that God has called me to mission service. I am coming up to the US to in order to prepare myself for my return to Guyana on a permanent basis. I know the Lord will lead and guide me with my needs so I can return as soon as possible."

Joe, what an inspiration it is to us when we see young persons like you dedicate your life to the service of others, and to prepare them for the soon return of the Monarch of the Galaxies.

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over..."Luke 6:38

We have nothing to fear of the future, for God is already there.
