PASTOR & MRS. FOLKENBERG'S VISIT CANCELLED

January 2, 1998

For nearly a year now, residents of Guyana and specifically the Upper Mazaruni River district have been looking forward to the visit of our World President and his wife, Pastor and Mrs. Robert Folkenberg. Amerindian residents from both Venezuela and Brasil had planned to walk in for the ocasion. To accompany them were our Interamerican Division President, Pastor Israel Leito, our Caribbean Union President, Dr. Peter Prime, and our Guyana Conference President, Pastor Lindon Gudge. Pastor Folkenberg was also bringing along special visitors, Bro. & Mrs. Bob Paulsen.

The date set for the arrival had been scheduled for January 7. On January 8, I was scheduled to fly the visitors over to Suriname in a small twin Piper Seneca II aircraft, and then take the aircraft back to Trinidad.

Unfortunately, due to a bit of public stress following national elections in Guyana, the trip was canceled after the carefully studied recommendation made by the Guyana Conference administration. We certainly support the recommendation, but are very disappointed. We look forward to another possible visit some time in the future, Lord willing.
