Remnant of God in Bible Prophecy

The great image of Daniel Chapter 2In Daniel 2, the prophet Daniel described four world kingdoms reaching down to the second coming of Christ. He further describes a power that seeks to change times and laws in Daniel 7. Revelation 13 identifies the worldwide beast power as the Roman Catholic Church. Revelation 12 describes another group. Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. And Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

As humans, we have a tendency to get very provincial. My church is better than your church, etc. The important thing is to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us, and follow the Holy Spirit. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Is God particular about what we believe? Most emphatically, yes.
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Paul's wish in Ephesians was for a glorious church Ephesians 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Paul said that the mystery of iniquity was already working in his time. He also said that a strong delusion would be believed by many. 2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Almost all of the prophecies in the Bible have come to pass. We have seen from this limited study that the Bible does clarify itself. Now, what is a remnant? Not too long ago, if you had a bolt of cloth and ran out of cloth, you would go to the store with a little piece of the original. You would compare the little piece with the rolls of cloth in the store and examine the color, weave, and texture until you found the exact copy. Well, there are many bolts of cloth in the religious world today. The remnant is simply that group of believers which has the beliefs that most closely resemble the beliefs of the early church.

No Christian should be comfortable letting another person establish doctrine for them. If a person can read, then that person should read for him or herself. If not, there is radio and there are audio tapes available in most parts of the world. It is good to remember the words in Psalms 142:2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. Everyone is saved by grace. Everyone is subject to making mistakes. We need to go to the Bible to find out if the preacher, pastor, reverend, or priest is telling us the truth, not go to them to interpret Scripture for us.

Luke 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. Jesus gave us the example of Sabbath keeping.

Mark 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Any belief that is not firmly rooted in the Bible is simply wrong. And, we shouldn't leave the impression that we are saved by our works, even our sabbath keeping or anything else. We are saved by grace. There is much more to being a Christian than a list of "dos and don'ts". The sabbath commandment was not abolished at the cross.

It is not a matter of old covenant versus new. It is the everlasting gospel. Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
We are told to worship the Creator. The everlasting gospel is related to God's work of creation. There is a commandment that reminds us of God's creative power and right to rule over us. It is the Sabbath! God created this earth and then commanded us to set aside a day for worship to honor Him. Jesus said John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

It is not a matter of the sabbath being a Jewish institution because anyone who is baptized is a spiritual Jew. Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Notice also a warning in Revelation 18:1-4 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

There has always been a true system of worship and a false system. One can look as far back as Cain and Abel to understand this. When Abel brought the sacrifices as the Lord commanded and Cain brought the fruits of his own labor, the controversy was evident. The images below summarize the two belief systems. Each line in these images is linked to a site with a more detailed explanation.

Come out of Babylon and go where? To join the remnant church.

Come out of Babylon. Come out of confusion. Find a commandment-keeping people who believe we are saved by grace through faith. Investigate for yourself. Seventh-day Adventists believe in the Bible as their ultimate source of Truth. Visit a Seventh-day Adventist church on Saturday morning and find out for yourself. What the world calls Saturday is really the Sabbath of the Lord. It has never been changed by God. It has been changed by man. There is a lot more to what Seventh-day Adventists believe, but there is not enough room on these pages. Please visit any of the links below, or go to the List of Beliefs page.

Remembering that there are several sections to this study, let us go to the next page, which is a Timeline of Bible Prophecy. You may also go to the top of the page and click on Prophecy > Timeline.

The Sabbath was hallowed at creation. As ordained for man, it had its origin when "the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy."  Job 38:7.  Desire of Ages, P. 281.
