he church of God is a term used by many people to describe a specific congregation at a specific time. It is more than that. The "ecclesia", the "called out ones", have been loved by God throughout the Ages. Since the time of Christ, when the commissioning of the Christian church took place, the primary purpose of the church has been to spread the gospel to the world. The church at every level may be involved in worldy things such as feeding the poor and helping people in distress. This is all well and good, but the central purpose of the church is to spread the gospel to bring about the return of Jesus!
ther sections of this site will explain the remnant of God in prophetic terms. Many claim to be the remnant, but the remnant are identified in Scripture very specifically. A study of the Doctrine page and the Prophecy page will clarify this.
here are churches which are entirely self-supporting. They raise funds and spend them independently of anyone else. The Seventh-day Adventist church does not operate that way. SDA churches are divided into local areas called conferences. These are divided into bigger geographic areas called unions. Then there are divisions such as the North American Division. The next bigger entity is the world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, called the General Conference. Their web site is http://www.adventist.org. They have a complete list of churches all over the world that have a web presence.
here is a page which has complete listings of all platform activities. If you are interested in who is preaching, who the deacons are for a particular Sabbath, or who has the responsbility for the hospitality dinner, just go to the calendar for complete information.
