HEARTBEAT
Welcome to the second issue our church newsletter.    Happy Sabbath!!    The social committee is pleased to announce the winner who named our newsletter:   Sharon Ferguson.    Thank you Sharon and thank you to those who participated, we hope that the name is pleasing to everyone.

Net '98:

"Pastor, what will I do to be a member of the Seventhday Adventist Church?" says Bill Estey during the nightly lectures delivered by Dr. Dwight Nelson of the Next Millennium Seminar originating from Andrews University.
Due to technical reasons, Fredericton SDA Church was unable to hold the seminar. So my wife and I have decided to open our home to individuals who are interested to watch and listen as Dr. Nelson presents messages on how we can have "a forever friendship with Jesus."   His common expression is:  "Jesus is a person not to be afraid of but to be a friend of."
The Next Millennium Seminar, also known as Net '98, is an exciting satellite event thought to be the most extensive Bible satellite seminar in the history of the Christian church that covers six continents, one hundred countries in forty different languages. People are watching this seminar in homes, churches, auditoriums, and even in football stadiums.   It is reported that in Romania more than thirty-four thousand people attend the meeting and ten thousand of these people are non-Adventises.   From the Euro-Africa Division (EUD) more than 20,000 guests attend the meetings.   In Italy, as well as in Australia, cable stations covered the Net '98 free of charge.   In Midura, Victoria, a local cable television network is re-playing Pastor Nelson's presentations free of charge -- sometimes twice a day.   The translations of his sermons are also recorded for radio .broadcast all around the globe.
This evangelistic endeavor calls to mind what Jesus said in Matthew 24:14:  "And this Gospel shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come."   This passage of scriptures lifts our sometimes weary hearts to realize that we are living in the end time and Jesus is very soon to come.
Bill Estey is a member of the Baptist fellowship and his baptism to the new-found faith will be held on November 21 at the Fredericton SDA Church.   Let us pray for "a great harvest of souls" worldwide even in our country and that Bill's and the countless other baptisms will not be affected by Satan's wrath.

Agape feast:

The Agape feast was very spiritually fulfilling.   It was like a romantic evening with Jesus.   The candle light casted a soft glow on everyones' faces.   I especially enjoyed the time we spent sharing with each other all the things that we are thankful for and what we love about each other.   An evening of good food, good people and an awesome Savior. Who could ask for anything more?

- Nicole McCluskey

It was really spiritually uplifting to participate in the agape feast.   Not only did we have lots of good food but we were in the presence with gclod people.   Pastor Jun lead out in a worship talk and then we began thanking each other in appreciation for whatever was on our hearts.   Not only did we feel close to God but by the end of the evening we felt close to each other.   Truly this is just what our church needs - we became close and in the end times we are going to need each other so much and so now it is time to bridge the gap and prepare for the end times.   Join us next time, you won't regret it!

- Heidi Williams

The Thanksgiving Agape Feast held on October 9, 1998 at the Fredericton, NB, SDA Church was attended by about 15 people.   We began with a prayer of thanksgiving and grace on the food that was provided.   While we enjoyed our food, Pastor Jun Ravelo gave a presentation with the aid of overheads shown on the overhead projector.   This was followed by words of thanks and appreciation of one person towards another.   Most of those in attendance participated and expressed words of appreciation of someone else.   It was also nice to have visitors with us from Nova Scotia.   All in all it was a most successful and spiritual activity.   Thank you one and all for making it a success by your attendance and participation.

Prayer Requests:

Each and everyone of us can use a special prayer but sometimes it's nice to remember those who could use that extra special remembrance.   For those who have not heard Darren Martin, a former youth member in our church, has recently been diagnosed with kidney failure.   This is a significant diagnosis because if untreated death will follow.   He is presently at the Saint John Regional Hospital where he will receive hemodialysis.   This alone is difficult because Saint John is the only hospital (Locally) that offers this.   His Hemodialysis will require being there, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and for 3-5 hours at a time.   He requests our prayers and if it is God's will, we pray for healing.
Other individuals to remember include:  Sindy Hernandez and family (Sindy worked at the food bank throughout the summer), we also pray for Lynn and family who are suffering through several diagnosis of cancer.
We also pray for Bill Estey who is moving forward in Christ - we congratulate him and share in his joy.
Please remember the youth in our church, pray that those in school (Richard, Heidi, Connie and Hartley) will continue to do well, as they have three weeks left to go.   We also pray for Nicole that Christ will continue to guide her through her work and that she will be a witness for others.

Special request:

Sharon Ferguson is requesting that anyone who is in the hospital and wish to have visitors that we let her know so that this can be carried out.   You can contact Sharon at 457-1725 (home) or 459-7461 (wk.).

Rainy Day Prayers

Most of us pray when we are scared or need
His help real bad
But somehow, we never get to thank
The Lord when we are glad.
Most of us never pray at all
When things are going right...
Only 'pessimists' think of a rainy day
When the sun is shining bright
Suddenly then the hard times come
And we pray with uplifted hands....
"Rainy Day Prayers" to a patient God
And somehow...He understands

In closing Ellen G. White writes from Messages to Young People, p.268, How are you to know that you are accepted of God?   Study His word prayerfully.   Lay it not aside for any other book.   This book convinces of sin.   It plainly reveals the way of salvation. It brings to view a bright and glorious reward.   It reveals to you a complete Savior, and teaches you that through His boundless mercy alone can you expect salvation.   Have you read your Bible today?
