EXAMINE YOURSELVES
NOTE: The
Bible says, "Examine yourselves, whether
ye be in the faith."
2 Corinthians 13:5. The following
self-examination may help you honestly assess your spiritual status. Beware!
Sometimes the truth can hurt. Do not be discouraged if this
test indicates you still have room to grow. Try not to reject
or resist the results. Rather admit, "The
spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41. Don't
give up! Pray the sinners prayer: "Lord,
I believe. Help thou mine unbelief." Mark 9:24.
INSTRUCTIONS: This test is for your eyes only. Do not put your name on this examination. Do not be afraid to be honest (God helps those who help themselves). The questions are written so that circling yes or no is the only best answer.
YES - NO I have already read the preceding NOTE and INSTRUCTIONS, and will not take this examination until I have done so.
YES - NO I usually spend more time reading the Bible than I do watching the television or reading secular things.
YES - NO I usually spend more time listening to sacred music than I do secular music.
YES - NO I usually schedule my mornings and evenings so that I have at least thirty minutes each to fellowship with Jesus privately through Bible study and prayer.
YES - NO I usually organize my time so that I can do extra things for Jesus and His Church.
YES - NO When around church friends I usually spend more time talking about Jesus and the gospel than I do about trivial matters.
YES - NO When around strangers or non-Christians I usually create nice opportunities to share the love of Jesus or plant a seed.
YES - NO I am usually very careful about my health and hygiene making sure I get plenty of fresh air, pure water, sunshine, aerobic exercise, sound sleep, and good nutrition. And I also usually avoid unhealthy food and beverages.
YES - NO I usually organize my finances so that I can give sacrifically to Jesus and His Church.
YES - NO I usually love and obey the commandments of Jesus, and repent if I sin.
NOTE: If
you answered no to any of the examination questions, please ask God to
help you discover effective ways to improve your spirituality in that particular
area of your life. Remember, God is your best friend and He will do everything
divinely possible to help you experience victory!
