In the Beginning - The first SDA School in Fortuna was started in 1924 in the back room of the church at 16th & L Street with about 20 students. In 1941 a new school was built on Newburg Road. By 1960 that school had been outgrown and construction began at the present site (as you see above) on a seven-acre plot donated by Dr. & Mrs. Atteberry. In 1999 Fortuna Junior Academy celebrated 75 years of Christian Education.
The 486-member church in Fortuna supports FJA. There are also SDA Churches in Petrolia, Miranda, Eureka, and McKinleyville.
