continually studying the Bible for future baptism.

My Leganes Mission Trip experience gave me a spiritual high that will continue to inspire me to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever He leads me.  I praise and thank God for everyone who was a part of the Medical and Dental team.  What an army of medical/dental missionaries!  I couldn’t be more proud.  Thank you all for your heartfelt service to God.  I also want to praise God for and thank our Evangelistic team.  We all realized that a combination of time, money, planning, commitment to the cause of Christ and leadership were necessary elements to the success of the Leganes Mission Trip.  For that we want to thank our host families in our church whose main prayer and desire was for more of their fellowmen in Leganes to know Jesus and be ready for His coming.

Humility, Hospitality, & Hope

Our Leganes mission trip began February 2, 2009 with the flights from SeaTac airport via Japan then to Manila, which were uneventful and smooth.  The flight from Manila to Iloilo though needed someone who was a high caliber negotiator to get our (8 persons) excess luggage with us on the plane for a minimal fee.  Ate Nova Betita worked hard to make sure that only about a third of the total fee gets paid. Thanks, ate Nova.

Arriving in Iloilo on February 4 we were picked up by Pastor Ferdinand Esico who is the President of the West Visayan Conference.  I would have been grateful just to be picked up by anyone from the Conference.  I would have been okay just taking a cab for that matter.  But there was Pastor Esico who made sure that we get picked up.  His deed was humbling to me.  That was one of the first great impressions I had.  I was flabbergasted to realize later on that he was going to be our main driver for the evening meetings throughout the week.  I’m sure there were a lot of other things or people vying for his time in his office but he chose to serve us personally.  I’m forever grateful to him for his example of humility, service as well as his commitment to the cause of Jesus Christ.

The brethren in Leganes church (Philippines home church of Mario & Nova Betita & Ramon & Linglen Simbre) and friends were not only very friendly but blew me away with their great

hospitality.  Whether it was the “Tatoy’s Manokan”, “Thai’s Genuine Cuisine” or a “Filipino Authentic Cuisine”, the food was exquisite.  I would have been grateful even if it was just the “Food Court” at Shoe Mart (SM) Iloilo.  The myriad of fruits (Guimaras mangos, lanzones, chiko, et al) were not only inviting but very gratifying.

Whether I was at West Visayan Academy as their Week of Prayer guest speaker every morning for a week or at the Leganes Sport’s Complex for the Evangelistic Reaping Meetings every night, I was in constant awe.  It still amazed me to observe the spiritual hunger in people’s heart.  I realized that they are looking for a hope that never fades away.  The one hundred thirty-five to a hundred forty non-Adventist people attending every night were looking for a hope-filled future.  They joined their Adventist friends of more than 200 in attendance every night so they can learn more about the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Many of them, if not all, were the recipients of the aid and blessings performed and given by our Medical and Dental team during the two-day rally.  I praise God
