Welcome to the Website Home Page ![]() ![]() |
During the past one hundred years thousands of young and older missionaries and their families have left their homelands in various parts of the world to serve as Seventh-day Adventist Missionaries to the native populations of the Continent of Africa. These have come as ministers, evangelists, secretaries, administrators, doctors, dentists, nurses, teac``hers, pilots, welfare workers, farmers and workers in just about any line of work one could imagine.
Times have changed. Now, as a result of the work these missionaries have done in training local workers, for the most part, indigenous workers have taken their places and are leading out in a strong way on the African Continent. According to the 1999 Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook, scattered throughout three world Divisions and the South African Union Conference there are more than 3.3 million Seventh-day Adventist church members on the African Continent. In the book of Numbers 23:23 we find the phrase, "What hath God wrought!". As we see the progress of the work in Africa, we can repeat these words and say when it comes to Africa, "What hath God wrought.!"
Today many former missionaries have returned to their homelands. Many of these have settled in North America. It is the hope that through the efforts of FAMA a vehicle can be provided so that there can be a closer contact among these former and present missionaries and their children. It is the plan that a meeting of this group of missionaries will be held every second year in different locations in North America. The most recent of such meetings was held at Milo Academy in Oregon in July of 2006. At this meeting it was voted to hold the 2008 get together somewhere in Mid-America.
This website is another avenue that is being made available for this group to communicate with each other. Email can very easily provide an additional means of communication in the future. With modern inventions at our disposal, it is much easier to communicate than has been possible in the past.
