their Savior and the Bible as the Word of God.
To prepare students for a life of
unselfish service to God and to their fellow man.
To provide a program
beginning with early childhood education that provides authentic
learning experiences through a Christ-centered curriculum.
To develop high academic standards
which include learning good study habits, and how to become accurate,
responsible, and independent thinkers.
To promote the understanding and
practice of a healthy Christian lifestyle.
To develop a caring atmosphere
where the rights, property, and interests of each person is respected.
What
We Offer
Deltona Adventist School
offers a state recognized curriculum and is supervised and accredited through the Education Department of the Florida Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists.
Pre-Kindergarten: This program is
designed for children who are four years old. As part of Deltona
Adventist School, it operates with the same schedule of days as the
rest of the school program. Students may be private pay or be
state sponsored by the Volunteer PreKindergarten Program.
Purpose:
The purpose of Pre-K is to
prepare students for a successful Kindergarten experience through
developmentally appropriate methods.
Volunteer
Pre-Kindergarten Program: VPK
is a voluntary educational program for all four-year olds in the state
of Florida. The state provides funds for every family regardless
of family income. These funds pay for a 3-hour day. There
is no registration fee. These funds provide for 540 hours of preschool instruction (180 days @ 3 hours per day).
Eligibility: Students must be four years old by September 1 to enroll for the
school year.
Cost: There is no cost for students enrolled in the state-sponsored VPK
program for three hours each day.
Attendance:
Students are expected to follow the school calendar and be present
every school day. Absences for illness, medical appointments, or
death in the family are excused. VPK does not pay if students
are absent for any other reason. The school is required to
submit a written note from a parent to receive payment for any excused
absences.
Sign In/Sign Out Sheets:
A daily sheet will be provided for parents to sign children in and out
of Pre-K. Please notify the teacher if someone other than a
parent will be picking up your child.

Teacher Certification: All of our Teachers have a Master's or Bachelor's Degree in
Education and hold current certification.
Curriculum: Curriculum standards are set and governed by the Seventh-day Adventist
system of education. Bible is taught as part of the curriculum
at each grade level.
Standardized Testing:
Students in Grades 3-8 are formally tested once each school year by
the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. We are not given the FCAT.
Multiage Grouping:
Since we are
a small school, we use multiage grouping strategies in our classrooms.
This allows us to individualize materials for students regardless of
grade level. Most students benefit by remaining with the same
teacher for more than one year and by being exposed to higher level
materials and review materials throughout their studies.
Uniforms: There is a basic
uniform for all students. Details are available in our school
handbook.
Music, PE, and Art:
These are
required subjects of one hour each per week and are usually taught by
the classroom teacher. Individual Piano lessons are
available.
Student Success Rate:
Over one-third of our graduates over the last three
years have been accepted into Honors and High Honors Programs as they
go onto further education
levels.
